NFL 2021: Week Fifteen Minutes of Fame

Two of the three in the AFC South! And somehow two of the three beat division leading Tennessee this season. They’ve got 8 wins between all three teams (with 3 of those wins amongst themselves). So, it’s the rest of the AFC and the (low) class of the conference Jets, Texans, and Jaguars.

Pillowfight of the season was last Sunday - Jaguars/Texans. The Jags are about the only team Houston can hang 30 points on.

I would say it’s rough being in Houston, but I’m not going to root for that team again until/unless Jack Easterby is shown the door, though I’d prefer Cal McNair selling the team. Those two are terrible. Fan hatred of the man is second only to Bud Adams, who took the Oilers to Tennessee.

Any guesses on tonights games?

The NFL is making sure the Rams had every chance, delaying the game so that they could get some players back. Hooray.

Gotta cater to that LA market after all.

…And the officials gift a first down to LA with a phantom hold when the Rams fail to convert on 3rd deep in their own territory. This feels scripted.

Somehow the ragtag WFT’s are making a game of it.

I’m watching the WTF/Eagles game live.

This video, I hope, won’t be made the subject of a copyright claim by the NFL. It deserves to be shown here for posterity.

On first appearance, it looks like an incomplete pass, right? Ball fell out of the Eagles player’s hand, and bounced off the ground before the WTF player got it?

NOPE!

It bounced off the Eagles player’s HEEL, and the Washington player caught it for an interception! Damndest thing I’ve ever seen.

There needs to be a “deflection interception” stat. Mahomes has gotten a handful of those this season, and it’s a bad reflection of his actual play.

Almost the exact same thing happened once to Romo & Witten:

Loudmouth anti vaxxer Cole Beasley will miss the most important game of the season on the Covid list.

What a dick.

Meantime, the Cinncinnati Bengals have avoided their roster being decimated by Covid-19, and Joe Burrow says it’s because there’s nothing to do in Cincinnati.

I’m surprised an NFL head coach wouldn’t just straight-up ban his players from going to any nightclubs anyway.

Random unrelated question: Has any NFL team ever played two games within 3 days of each other? I know the tightest schedule any team ever plays is usually Sunday and Thursday of the same week.

This isn’t college - what the coach can and cannot restrict players from doing is spelled out in great detail in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Well, considering that the murder rate has been rising since Covid hit, it’s probably better that there’s nothing to do there.
