NFL 2023-2024: Super Bowl 58

The last Chiefs drive was short (in time), and the Chiefs D were looking exhausted during the preceding 49ers drive. I think maybe it made sense to give the Chiefs D as little rest as possible.

Indeed. It was mentioned that the Chiefs substitute sparingly on defense. Most of those guys were playing every defensive play. It’s a testament to their conditioning and grit that they were able to stop SF short in OT.

Air drop McCaffrey on a motorcycle. No way the Chiefs could have stopped that.

That seems like the best strategy. Although, if you get the ball first and the score is still tied after the first set of possessions, you’ll have the ball first in the sudden death portion.

That is a good point. And this is exactly what Shanahan just said about taking the ball first.

It would be interesting to speculate if, had the Niners scored 7, would KC had gone for two after their touchdown?

Man, I am PISSED! I’m beginning to equate Kyle Shanahan with Marv Levy.

“SF 3 KC 0 STOP THE COUNT!”

Well played!

I’m sure I’ll be hearing a lot of moaning at work today about how the Chiefs won and Taylor was on the screen a lot. Was she really featured a great deal on broadcasts?

According to this article, she appeared on screen for 55 seconds during the 4 hour, 18 minute broadcast.

A couple of those times were a little forced but, no, it wasn’t all that often. Maybe only 3 or 4 times during the game itself?

You could tell the director, probably instructed so by CBS, was looking for any reason at all to cut the camera (maybe a dedicated one?) over there and just not finding opportunities due to the way the game progressed.

Yeah I did not think it was very much at all. Especially at the end when Kelce had several catches, they didn’t go to her every time.

Did I turn the TV off too soon and miss the part where Travis and Taylor came out on the field after the game to announce their undying loyalty to and support for Biden? I mean, the Biden admin did their part by putting the fix in for the Chiefs.

they declared the election over. we are now living with “botus”.

Whoops, my bad. This should be reversed:

Time of Possession: 49ers 38:31, Chiefs 36:26

You also missed Kelce’s marriage proposal to Swift.

Super Bowl ‘Rigged’ Rumors Take Internet By Storm After Chiefs Win

I don’t get that. Wouldn’t it be the 49ers who took the fall? Ask them for comment. Or is Newsweek afraid of being cursed out?

Y’all do realize there’s people out there who WILL be under the impression all that happened anyway :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Social media is killing society. I mean that absolutely sincerely.

30 years ago “the NFL is rigged,” an accusation that makes no sense whatsoever, would have been restricted to people living on the streets or with corkboards in their basements covered in strings and newspaper clippings. Now millions seem to believe it. It is absolutely, one hundred percent social media that has done this.

I mean, what could be easier than choreographing a muffed punt that hits the back of someone’s ankle? Hell, it’d be harder to train and be 106 of the best football players on the planet than it would be to follow a play-by-play script…
