NFL 2023: Week 13 in a Baker's Dozen

Yup. While there aren’t any severe thunderstorm warnings issued for the Pittsburgh area right now, it does look like thunderstorms are moving through.

The Pittsburgh Tribune website said

Steelers’ game against Cardinals delayed at halftime because of lightning alert

ETA: They just kicked off for the second half

ETA ETA: Kenny Pickett is out for the game; Mitch Trubisky in at quarterback.

The Chargers and Pats made up for it.

I was wondering if (hoping that?) the broadcaster would switch to a more interesting game even in the New England market. I went to the grocery store during the game, and it was packed. A few years ago the three hours of a Pats game were deserted in stores.

Unlikely. Even if the home team is terrible, or the game is a blowout, I think that the broadcast rights mandate that the network sticks with that game, in the teams’ home markets, to the bitter end.

The most interesting facet of this Patriots season has been watching the change in the local support. For twenty years, everyone seemed to worship at the church of Belichick , Brady and Kraft. Even the last few years after Brady left, everyone was confident that Bill and Bob would pull a rabbit out of the hat. This year it’s quite different.

It’s very Elite Dragon in here.

Trading away good players will do that, alas

What does this mean?

Oh it’s an old meme about Joe Flacco. He’s actually looked really good especially for a guy who hasn’t had much time from the playbook. Browns receivers are dropping everything this year so the stats don’t fully reflect it but other than a string of good play here and there by Watson, Flacco’s play today is way better than anything else the Browns have done this year.

Great crap, the Eagles defense is a sieve with holes as big as Wyoming. And Jalen has the ball… still has ball… yep, still has it…

It took a while to get going, but my 49ers absolutely wholloped the Eagles. They’ll probably meet again in the playoffs, but that was stressful and satisfying to watch.

Colts game had a weird couple of plays in a row against the Titans.

We blocked a punt and returned it 18 yards for a touchdown.

Then the Titans intercepted our 2-point conversion attempt and returned it all the way back for a defensive 2-point conversion.

McCaffrey is the best football player on Earth.

looks like there were more crappy games than usual today …

and the 202x Patriots are going to join the 80s Packers in the “we have to remind everyone we were once NFL gods years ago for the next 20 years”

Guess it depends on your definition of crappy games.

There have been 10 games thus far today. 6 of them were one score games.

Granted, one of those one-score games was Chargers over the Pats, 6-0. Another was the Bucs over the Panthers 21-18. The most-hyped game, Niners/Eagles, was a blowout.

OK, you make a good point.

I only watched one game.:flushed::sunglasses::partying_face:

They said the Dolphins score was a scorigami!

Correct! The Dolphins’ 45-15 win over the Commanders had never occurred before.

13-8 (Falcons over Jets) and 36-19 (Rams over Browns) had only occurred once before.

Ugly officiating at the end of this game. Both ways.
