NFL 2023: Week 13 in a Baker's Dozen

I’m also quite afraid that Jordan Love might actually be good.

I’m a KC fan and I hate the Packers, but if that isn’t DPI, then what is?

Yep, shouldn’t have been 15 yards on the Mahomes hit, but that was as blatant of a DPI as I’ve seen.

But KC gets all the calls.

It’s like they were trying to show that they are unbiased by making bad calls on both teams.

Boston sports fans are spoiled rotten. Since I moved to the area they’ve won championships in all four major sports, some of them multiple times.

Well, Boston was never truly a football city. It was and always has been a basketball/baseball town.

And did they thank you? No?

Freakin ingrates.

Good! After their pitiful loss to the hated Packers, I hope they don’t darken my TV screen again until the playoffs.

Not enough to predict the Niners would bitch slap the Eagles in their home stadium.

So I’m a diehard Eagles fan, but what the hell was with “Dom” putting himself in between Greenlaw and Smith, and pushing on Greenlaw’s chest, on the sideline? I know they both got ejected, but I thought that was a big no-no, for anyone not a player to go onto the field or touch a player on the other team. It’s not security’s job to interfere in player altercations, that’s the official’s job.

Having said that, if the NFC championship is between the 49ers & Eagles (likely), and in Philadelphia (fingers crossed), I’m assuming everyone in the stands will be wearing a “Dom” shirt.

Well, it definitely isn’t the one called on the Packers for incidental contact on an uncatchable ball not that long before.

I’m not sure PI ever gets called on a hail mary anyway.

I was talking about the one at about 40 seconds to go.

The play in question starts at about 4:46 in this video:

Definitely seems like it should have been a DPI call

Oh, yea.

I was comparing to the phantom DPI earlier which I couldn’t find in the video.

It was like the refs couldn’t decide who they wanted to win.

I would’ve called it, but it isn’t nearly as egregious as some. Think of it as a makeup call for the “illegal touching of Patrick Mahomes” penalty and the “sure his forward progress was stopped in bounds, but this is exciting and the Chiefs are out of timeouts, so we’ll stop the clock for them” calls earlier.

That said, reffing is a very tough job at the NFL level. Its a shame that their mistakes are the main talking point after almost every game.

You know he’s having a good game by the amount of blood dripping off his elbows.

I agree but there was an official standing a handful of yards away watching a defender play piggy-back on a receiver and riding him like a horse before the ball arrives. I can’t see any reasonable explanation for that except extremely poor decision-making.

It’s one thing to not see it, it’s another to see it and decide not to throw a flag.

I’m not citing bias, I’m citing exceptional incompetency.

It’d never happen, but I’ve long thought that if the defender touches a passed ball first it’s not DPI. It could still be holding.

And Bengals win in overtime. Nail biter.
