Intriguing idea. Say an owner of Team A is willing to buy draft picks for cash. Could Team A do it by trading their head coach and $30 million to Team B for draft picks, who then fires their new head coach immediately?
I cant find the NFL rules online, but I’d be willing to bet NFL teams are forbidden from trading cash. There were examples of such a rule being circumvented (Brock Osweiler, for example, was only traded after the team trading him away agreed to pay most of his contract), but I’m guessing the Commissioner would get involved in such shenanigens if it were coaches.
Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez collided with the buttocks of his teammate, offensive lineman Brandon Moore, causing a fumble, which was then recovered by the Patriots’ safety Steve Gregory and returned for a touchdown. The play was the centerpiece of a disastrous sequence in the second quarter, wherein the Jets lost three fumbles and the Patriots scored three touchdowns in the span of 52 seconds of game time. In that second quarter, the Jets held the ball for over 12 minutes (out of a possible 15), but managed to be outscored 35–3.
. The butt fumble is often considered one of the most inept plays in NFL history and is also ranked as the most embarrassing moment in Jets history
The Chargers just ran off the field for the half, presumably straight out onto the shuttles to the airport to go to their hometowns for new careers. Sheesh, that SIXTH unanswered TD with 31 seconds left though.
And Staley is toast, along with GM Tom Telesco. Interim coach not yet named. I’m guessing it will be either OC Kellen Moore or DC Derrick Ansley. I got $5 on Moore.
I know the HC has no control over the various injuries suffered to the star players, but Staley should have been canned last year, after the Chargers blew a 27-0 lead in the playoff game against Jacksonville. They were outscored 31-3 in the last 31 minutes of that game.
It’s about the bottom line but they’re not that great at that, either. They moved to LA but they’re an also-ran in their own stadium. They could have had Sean Payton but he costs more than they like and now he’s doing a credible if not an outright good job in Denver competing against them in the same conference!
There’s those rumors about Belichick but I can’t see them wanting to pay for him, either.
