Good for Detroit! Glad they got the win!
NFC North representing this weekend, for sure.
Well done, Detroit!
Lions will host another game next weekend. Good for them.
Don’t think it mattered a whole lot. Would have been 3 kneel downs after the first down regardless.
Oh my god, the Lions just won a playoff game.
I was about 13 last time this occurred.
I was 15. Man i can’t stop smiling!
With no rooting interest in these playoffs, I’m hoping to see Lions vs Texans in the Superbowl.
I scraped myself out of whole 45 feet deep just to glimpse a corner of a projector that once had the smell of…
Hehe hey, nevermind all that what a weekend!!!
I’ve been so burned out on NFL due to being a Lions fan, I will admit it would be thrilling just to be in the Super Bowl. If the Lions managed to win the Super Bowl, I think it would be a great story.
And to happen the same year Michigan won the college championship?
I had to watch the games tape delayed. The Lions win! I was 30 the last time they won. (goes to look it up) 38-6 over the Cowboys. The only playoff win for Barry Sanders.
The Lions would go on to lose to the Redskins in the NFC Championship Game, and the Redskins would go on to win Super Bowl XXVI over the Bills, their 2nd of 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses. The previous Super Bowl, XXV, was Scott Norwood’s Wide Right. Of all of the Bills’s Super Bowls, that was the one they should have won.
As for the early game, Jordan Love looked great early. The Niners better be ready next week.
And I just gotta say…
I’ve been somewhat rooting for Jordan Love even though I needed the Packers to lose their last regular season game for my Seahawks to make it into the postseason. But good for him and Green Bay.
Fun fact:
And…
But even better…

Since AT&T Stadium opened in 2009, both the Packers and the Cowboys have the same numbers of postseason wins in the retractable-roof stadium: three.
And well done Detroit! Good to see a long-suffering fan base get some glory, and at home, and against Stafford. Somebody, can’t remember who, said Stafford finally gave Detroit a playoff win. ![]()
If the Bills win tomorrow we’ll get to see Patrick Mahomes play his first road playoff game.
Does Dak Prescott’s snap cadence make anyone else’s skin crawl? Best part about the Sunday results is that we don’t have to hear that “YEAH, HERE WE GO” any more times this year. Don’t know why it bothers me so much.
Ho boy, you’re not kidding. That was a freakin’ nailbiter- barely clinging to that 1 point lead toward the end. I couldn’t believe it when Goff started taking a knee. That’s it? They won? No last minute turnover, bad ref call, crazy-ass Campbell trick play that goes sideways, or meteorite crashing through the roof of Ford Field to somehow cause the Lions to lose?
As a Lions fan, this was kind of our Superbowl. I don’t expect the Lions to actually win the Superbowl-- their defense is too soft. If the Lions had a better defense they could be a juggernaut, more like the Ravens, who destroyed the Lions early on this season.
Although…next up for the Lions is either the Eagles or the Bucs, most likely Eagles. I kind of like the Lions’ chances against either of those teams. After that, I’m not sure at all what’s going to happen. As a Lions fan unfamiliar with playoff winning, will Lions vs. Bucs or Eagles be for the NFC championship, and the winner then goes to the SB, or is there another playoff game in there somewhere? It seems hard to believe that the Lions could have just one win between them and showing up in the SB. But again, if the Lions do manage to make it to the SB, I expect them to face the Ravens again, and I don’t see them having a better outcome than the October game. But that’s ok. As a long suffering Lions fan I’m happy with whatever happens now.
Next week is the Division round, the week after that is the Conference Championship, and the winner goes to the Super Bowl.
Does anyone remember what the deal with the Goff/Stafford trade? I can’t remember if Stanford demanded a trade, or what. There seemed to be a ton of booing for Stafford.
Hoping to see a Week 1 rematch for the Chefs - that’d be a great Super Bowl.
Ah ok, thanks.
Before the game started they did a little ‘swapping places’ recap of what happened, complete with silly graphics of Stafford and Goff carrying moving boxes. According to the recap, Stafford asked for / demanded a trade.
As has been noted, next week the Lions will host the Bucs or Eagles. If they win that game, they will play the winner of the Niners/Packers game for the NFC championship. If the Niners win, that game will be in San Francisco. If the Packers win, Detroit would host the championship game.
As a Chiefs fan, I would be okay with a Lions/Chiefs Super Bowl. Actually, I would be ecstatic.
Despite asking for a trade, Stafford left on decent terms with most of the Detroit fanbase. He never really complained about the shitty team, and fans generally appreciated all the time he spent there and wanted to see him succeed elsewhere.
But coming in as the opponent standing in the way of their first playoff victory since forever? Oh yeah, he’s gonna catch a lot of boos for that.
If the Lions could play their red zone defense all the time, they might actually be decent. The Rams were 0-3 on TDs within the red zone yesterday.
I think it’s the Lions’ safeties that are the main weak link of their defense. That becomes less of an issue on a short field.
Admittedly, the Cowboys are my most disliked team in the NFL, so yeah, it irritates me. I’m hoping somebody makes a video with Dak yelling “Here we go” and showing his interceptions.
