If it were a regular out of market Sunday afternoon game that may be true, but this is a Monday night game that would normally be on ESPN (sometimes simulcast on ABC), which means a lot of people would have access to it.
Only three responses saying the same thing? We’re slipping!
ESPN+ apparently has about 24 million subscribers. Compare that to Amazon Prime that has about 168 million. I have Prime, but not for NFL. It’s a little bonus on Thursdays. I already don’t pay for ESPN, why would I pay for ESPN+?
Is it the MNF game that would normally be on ESPN or is it a second Monday night game that rarely ever happened before?
It’s one of those second Monday Night games that the NFL has given ESPN in the last couple years to appease them for giving them so many terrible games in recent years.
What is this now, the 3rd? 4th? Monday with two games so far this season?
Earlier this season when there were two MNF games, one was on ESPN and the other was, I believe, on ABC. This will be the third Monday this season that will have two games, and I think there’s one more.
ISTM that there have been two MNF games during one of the early weeks for several years.
In unconfirmed reports, the New York Jets have offered 1-year contracts to Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, Randall Cobb, and Greg Jennings.
We’ve got pick #12 vs pick #150 tonight. Pretty dull so far.
After the Bears made me a nice chunk of change last week, I find myself confused on another line this week: the 2-4 New York Jets are giving 1.5 points to the 4-2 Steelers, who are at home.
I get the splash/hype of Aaron Rodgers getting Davante Adams, but I don’t quite get why the line would favor the Jets on the road. Steelers offense will be less one dimensional with Wilson, they get back Highsmith on defense, and they’re at home. I’m probably missing something though. But Let’s Go Steelers!
As an aside: apparently the greatest QB to ever be a regular Bears’ starter has been arrested for DUI and having a gun. That’s right, Smokin’ Jay Cutler had a bad Thursday night.
The buzz is that the Steelers are starting Russell Wilson over Fields.
Maybe they’re pricing that decision in. I suspect there’s not a lot of confidence in this matchup of past their prime QBs
The Browns are playing the Bengals tomorrow and it does not matter who wins, to me, as I want my Ravens up there.
Browns are getting a Lot of penalties.
Some would say Watson is our penalty!
Uh oh. Watson, untouched, popped his achilles.
Supposedly the crowd was cheering as he was carted off!
Several talking heads over the last couple weeks were asking why the Browns were sticking with Watson as a starter. He was so bad that it seemed indefensible. One of the more cynical responses was that the Browns were hoping that Watson would suffer a significant injury so they could recover the insurance money.
And well, here we are.
The Packers overcame two interceptions from Jordan Love, beating the Texans on a field goal by their new kicker, Brandon McManus, as time expired. After a season-plus of inconsistent, unreliable kicking, it’s good to have a guy who actually makes field goals.
Meanwhile, the Lions, up in Minneapolis, also beat the previously-undefeated Vikings on a last-second field goal.
With the Lions and Vikings having both had their byes already, and the Bears on bye this week, the NFC North standings are:
- Detroit 5-1
- Minnesota 5-1
- Green Bay 5-2
- Chicago 4-2
Was Jayden Daniels knocked out of the game? Because of course he was when I started him in fantasy this week.
Yes; he suffered a rib injury in the first quarter, and the team ruled him out from returning after halftime.
Which is why I had to LOL @ the ESPN headline for this bit of news just now:
“Browns fear QB Watson suffered torn Achilles”
No, they won’t be “fearing” anything-by extreme contrast, everybody will be dancing in the streets.
Seeing the Seahawks get three consecutive turnovers on Falcon drives was pretty fun.
They beat Atlanta so bad that they put Michael Penix for his first NFL regular season play. Seattle won by 20 in the end. Geno Smith had a great day and Kenneth Walker III (lead RB) got a rushing and receiving TD on his birthday.
Meanwhile, San Francisco will lose to Kansas City which will put Seattle back in the lead in their division for at least a week. Tough game against Buffalo next week though.
ETA: San Francisco just made the funniest onside kick ever; the ball literally just spun in place on the field like a top after being kicked. Pretty sure that’s not how that’s supposed to be done.
Colts win, woo!
