NFL 2024-25: Week 7

Lots of nasty Twitter comments on his injury, including speculation that rehab will involve lots of massage therapy.

I’m still not sold on Richardson as a QB. I’m afraid he’s going to be a little too injury prone.

The Commanders looked great on both sides of the ball today, even with Jayden Daniels sidelined early in the game with a rib injury. What a joy to watch them this year!

Jayden “RGIII II” Daniels. I hope he figures out a way to stay healthy because he’s a likeable kid. Watson, not so much, though I wouldn’t wish that injury on anyone. It won’t benefit the Browns on the field because he will still count against the cap unless he retires.

I hate seeing Aaron Rogers pout after being sacked.
Oh, just kidding. I like that.

We really, really need emoji reactions. Regardless,

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s the worst effort on an onside kick I’ve ever seen. It will definitely be on the ‘Not Top 10’ list on ESPN.

He’s a much better QB already than Griffin ever was. Griffin was a one read, two read QB at best. He was always more comfortable running than throwing and that just doesn’t work in the NFL.

How about them Chiefs?

Mahomes had two interceptions and no passing TDs. The Chiefs scored four rushing touchdowns (one by Mahomes) and their defense had three interceptions. They continue to win despite less-than-stellar play by their quarterback.

I’m watching Sunday Night Football on a plane. The wi-fi is out and the sound is impossible to make out.

While I’m enjoying watching the Jets get their asses handed to them, as it appears that their cut-rate Tom Brady has managed to destroy their defense as well, there seems to be a Pittsburgh player sitting on the bench looking very glum indeed, despite the scoreline.

What’s his problem?

Immediately after I posted the above I saw this in one of the Trump threads:

And I thought it was an answer to my question!

Never mind I got my Google page to load. Looks like he’s the quarterback who was benched in favor of the guy who is having a great game.

I really shouldn’t rely on guardian.co.uk for my NFL coverage. I’m starting to think they may not be comprehensive.

My wife was wondering why they would start Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh today, and my theory was that Aaron Rodgers hates his guts and it would drive him nuts to lose to him again. She said that’s the only thing that makes sense.

Russ did pretty well taking advantage of the Jets backup CBs tonight for sure.

Probably Justin Fields, who had started all of the Steelers’ previous games. They decided to start Russell Wilson instead.

Fields had been the Bears’ QB for the past three seasons, but was traded away to Pittsburgh when it was clear that Chicago, who had the first overall pick, was going to draft Caleb Williams.

And Mike Tomlin, HC of the Steelers, said it’s still going to be week to week as they figure out who is going to be the starting QB. Seems weird but it seems to be working well enough for them so I’m not judging.

I’ll give that to Wilson.

He looked like an experienced NFL QB able to read defenses and stretch the field a little. I doubt anybody was expecting him to heave the ball all the way down field but they did force the Jets not to commit entirely against the run.

Fields isn’t quite that QB. Maybe he’ll get there eventually with the right coaching, but he’s not there now.

Just noticed a bizarre stat: the 1-5 Titans somehow lead the league in Defensive YPG allowed. We’ve all heard of a good offense making a Defense look better than it is, but is it just a weird quirk that the Titans bad O actually makes the D look good because of poor field position? Or am I just oblivious and Tennessee actually has a stout D?

Ever feel like you’re jinxing your team by watching them play? It was a beautiful day yesterday, so I was doing stuff outside, and it wasn’t until almost 3pm I remembered oh yeah, the Lions - Vikings game is on! I turn on the TV-- pleased to see, well into the 3rd quarter, the Lions are up 27-10.

But apparently the Lions had just gotten a pick-6 that was called back by the refs, so right away the score changes to 21-10. Then the Vikings, with the ball back, score a touchdown. In the span of 5 minutes of me watching, the Lions’ lead goes from 17 to merely 4 points.

Then Goff, who had a perfect completion % up to then, starts throwing incompletions, the Vikings get their own pick-6 (that one stands) and they get the lead. The wheels are just falling off.

The Lions managed to hang on and win, but it went from a potential blowout to a nail-biter as soon as I started watching :hushed:

Yes. Very much so.
