NFL 2026-2027: Week 4

The improbable 3-1 Browns couldn’t quite manage to choke this one away

They were trying!

The announcers were talking about how the trade for Watson was considered the worst of all time, but now it’s working out… No. He could play the best this year of any QB in history and it would have still been the worst trade ever. It has kept this team irrelevant and financially shackled for years already.

Maybe if he was spectacular for the next few years and carried the team repeatedly into the postseason, but that ain’t gonna happen.

The Steelers can’t beat the Browns (or just about anyone) on the road on Thursdays. They’re 1-9 overall and 0-5 in Cleveland.

Yup. Counting from the line of scrimmage (as punt yardage is officially calculated), it’s still 71 yards before it hits the ground.

so that makes him number 3 all-time then

and after 5 sacks and 2 picks, you know he’s going to throw coach/OL or anyone else under the bus

Yeah well…

Things seem to be going smoothly in Pittsburgh.

McCarthy appeared to respond into his headset by calling Rodgers — who threw Steelers coaches under the bus after his humiliating mistake not long ago — a “f—ing —hole,” as the cameras quickly cut away twice.

Watson was … unwatchable at times. The throw to the wide open receiver was not close. Probably would have decided the game with that 1st down. After the tie an in field goal range, takes a sack. Crap call from the coach too. A run would have killed most of the time. Bailed out by a guy with a leg cannon (who fails to get the ensuing kickoff in play). 3-1, first place, blows me away.

The official stats say no but even if it’s not more injury prone, it’s definitely sloppier football in general. And forget sports betting. It’s worse than a crapshoot

I am not generally someone who enjoys schadenfreude. But, as a Packer fan, who had to put up with the guy as he went from “brilliant if a bit prickly” to “full-on asshat”…heck, yeah.

Am I the only one having buffering problems with the NFL on Amazon Prime (via ROKU)? Two weeks in a row now I’ve had to keep changing ROKU away from the game and then back to reset the buffer.

It’s smoother than network TV. We get freezes and stutters every now and then over cable, and audio problems at times. (Though maybe that’s not all the cable’s fault.) Amazon Prime us flawless in comparison.

The most common problem with ROKU is the cache (quick memory) filling up/not clearing like it’s supposed to. Search for “clear ROKU cache” for instructions.
Prime works fine for me with ROKU.

Thanks. I’ll try this.

Commanders going with Mariota. Tough travel schedule. Last week to Seattle, this week to London. Lots of time zones compressed into a week. Should be another close matchup with the Colts.

Seattle game was in DC (Maryland)

Another thing I don’t understand from last night’s game, with 10 seconds left, why didn’t the Browns squib-kick the kickoff to burn off a few more seconds? Seems like asking for a repeat of the Bills’ 13-seconds Chiefs infamy.

The Ravens just won a game in literally 7 seconds. After a touchback from the kickoff, they tossed the ball into FG territory in 6 seconds, called their last timeout, then kicked the game-winning field goal with the final second of game time.

I think squib kicks are messy though. Not nearly as dangerous as an onside kick (which is so unlikely to succeed and so bad when it doesn’t that it’s about as desperate as a play can be) but there are risks. The ball might go out of bounds early, which is a big penalty giving the opponent great field position. It might not go as far as you want it to. When that ball is skipping over the field it might as well be a die you’re rolling rather than a football.

On the other hand, their defense had (mostly) done well and the Steelers’ offense struggled. I think they weighed the risks pretty well IMHO.

Glad I’m not the only person who was wondering that very thing. Steelers got the ball on their own 35 yard line. From there, they needed about 25 yards to set up Boswell for a possible game-tying field goal. 10 seconds is enough time to complete the pass, get out of bounds, and set up for the field goal.

Forcing the Steelers to return the kickoff gives them time for just one hail mary.

Squib kicks aren’t a thing with the new kickoff rules. If the ball lands before the 20 yard line, it’s a penalty and the ball is placed at the 40.

The kicker was trying to land the ball around the 5 yard line. Even if the Steelers run it back to the 35, it burns off enough time that the only play left is probably a Hail Mary. I’m guessing the guy had so much adrenalin after making the field goal, he just blasted it a bit farther than he intended.
