I’m not trying to be Munch. I’ve learned a lot from him and I just hope I can produce quality posts.
Just relax and have fun out there kid.

What was the deal with the Fox staff yesterday?
-
Chris Myers calling Deuce a “douche”, twice.
-
Chris Myers instructing Sharper to “go share this trophy with these fans, the ones that supported this team (blah, blah, blah)”. And then repeating his instructions.
-
Pam Oliver asking Peterson: “How are you doing? Are you going to be ok?” It’s not like his wife left him or something. He’s a football player that lost a very important game. But he’ll get over it. The question had a vibe as if she was hitting on him.
My wife and I wondered about that. The vibe I got was a mocking tone like she’s interviewing a crybaby or something.
“How are you doing? Are you going to be ok? Do you need a tissue? Do you want your mommy? Do you need a big hug?”
I don’t think you should interview the losing team on the field, ever.
Just because you don’t see the tears Diogenes the Cynic sheds when he shuts off his computer, that doesn’t mean they aren’t real.
Enjoy,
Steven
Me too to all of the above.

Damn damn damn damn damn.
It could’ve been worse, I suppose. Hell, for all those turnovers, it really shoulda been 56-3 Saints. They’re going to need to capitalize on those chances if they’re going to beat the Colts.
Damn.
If it wasn’t for Shockey, I’d almost cheer for the Saints in the SuperBowl - it’s nice to see a team make their first trip. But I have an irrational hatred for Jeremy Shockey that burns with the fire of a thousand suns. Jeee-zus, but I hate that guy. He epitomizes “dirty player” to me, now that Romanowski doesn’t play anymore.
How is Shockey a dirty player? As a Giants fan I watched every one of his plays for the first six years of his career and never saw a dirty play out of him.
I’ll happily concede he’s a raging douchebag asshole who I would totally hate if he didn’t start his career on my favorite team, but dirty player? I find that surprising.
Full agreement with Ellis – Shockey is exactly the kind of asshole jock who kept his high school attitude into the pros. I’d hate the hell out of him if he hadn’t been a Giant, but dirty he ain’t.
He viscously slams his back and knees into the shoulders of opposing linebackers and defensive backs.
Thirded.
Yeah, I probably used the wrong wording. Douche, asshole jock, walking ego, and all-around crybaby: these are definitely better descriptors. He’s not a dirty player so much as he’s a thoroughly icky piece of work.
Good lord I can’t stand him. I’ll hate the hell out of him regardless of who he plays for.
I humbly posit that if he had played on your team in that amazing rookie season, you’d have a soft spot for him too.
Sort of like that skanky chick you hooked up with back in high school.
I work with a guy who lives in the same downtown condo building where Scott Fujita, Darren Sharper, and Jeremy Shockey live during the season. He sees them in the halls and in the parking garage quite often and has nothing but nice things to say about all of them. In particular, he notes that Shockey is unfailingly polite and even shy when he talks with him. I agree that on the field Shockey is a beast of a player, but football’s a violent sport and, well, people get hit on the field. Kind of like the old Looney Tunes cartoon with the coyote and the sheepdog. Clock in on the field and it’s rough; clock out and it’s not. YMMV, etc., and standard disclaimers apply.
It’s rather funny because I’d never even heard of Shockey until those playoffs and that Superbowl - did he play before then? And while I really wanted the Giants to win, good lord that guy’s an ass. But seeing as cheering for the other team was not an option (I don’t really mind the Patriots, but I’m way beyond tired of them and definitely did not want them to win), what can you do?
Shockey is well and trully hated, largely because he is the poster boy for Idiot sports reporters declaring the greatness of someone in New York who has accomplished nothing. He came out of good UMiami teams, with a huge freakin ego. In the preseason of his rookie year He had a monster play or two where he completely steamrolled the defensive back and got on all the XTREEM PLAYS OF THE WEEK!!! shows. Then for a couple years they kept reporting on his every move as though he was a superstar, when at best he was slightly above average for a tight end, and had some major failings as a player(i.e. blocking, catching, not punching opposing players in front of the ref.)
This only made Shockey’s ego get bigger and become a more insufferable ass who was always on Camera, and spent less time giving a shit about improving his game.
Shockey wasn’t with the Giants when they won the Super Bowl. He was on the roster, but he was injured and wasn’t even on the sidelines.
