Favre didn’t lose for the Vikings. And he rarely, if ever, lost a game for the Packers. Football is a team sport, and barring catastropic meltdowns or excellent team play except for one player, one player rarely costs a team a loss, or wins a game for a team. Yesterday’s game was no different. All Day, Berrian, Harvin all contributed to the loss. And the Saints played a good (I don’t think anyone could call it a great game) game. And the referees played a role too (I didn’t really have a problem with the spots of the ball). But Favre’s two stupid interceptions and his botched handoff were big factors in the loss too. He doesn’t get a pass.
This one, at 3:41? You can’t blame the refs on that (well, okay, you can) - Childress has got to pull that flag… On the other hand, it would still have been put on the 1/2 yard line - that’s tough for anyone to stop in 3-4 downs, and even tougher to declare the game illegitimate just because of that. If it had been 4th down, I might agree with you.
I was rooting for the Saints. Still, the calls at the end of the game surely helped the Saints gain momentum. And as much as I dislike Favre, he looked like he was made of iron in that game. Most 40 year old would be in the hospital today after that. It was an honorable battle.
Nevertheless, 6 fumbles and 2 interceptions. Really. Any team that coughs up that much is going to lose in the NFL.
Man, you all have no idea where the blame really falls, do you?
“It was Favre’s fault!”…“Oh, those refs handed the game to the Saints!”…“Oh, if only AD could’ve held on to the ball…”
Gimme a break – it should be clear to every right-thinking individual: this is all Prince’s fault.
Please, everyone knows that the Vikings would have won if James Harrison wasn’t being held on every play.
That’s quite the call right there.
I recall it happening in the past month or so. Can’t remember which game.
It’s interesting that the person who made the call has forgotten how huge turnovers were in the game, instead blaming the refs for calls made in an OT that should have never happened anyway. Funny, that.
Still, the best post in the thread goes to Munch. You aren’t allowed to blame the refs unless the rest of the game was mistake-free.
So you aren’t allowed to blame the refs in a game where you have six fumbles and five turnovers. You aren’t allowed to blame the refs in a game where your team has the ball in your opponent’s territory with a chance to kick a field goal to win.
And especially not if you were posting a week ago telling the fans of your biggest rival not to bitch about the refs.
I blamed the fumbles too.
The guys at KFAN were not happy with Brett’s final interception.
You know, I just love posting. I’m not in there with any sort of agenda. I’m not trying to prove anything. I’m certainly not in it for the money. I just go out there every week and try to remember what it’s like to be a kid again.
Will you be posting in football threads next season?
I just want to take it one thread at a time. But the more attention I can garner, and as much media share I can steal away from other actually interesting storylines, the better.
Prince? I blame the Pants on the Ground guy.
Munch, any comment on the rumors that other posters from previous playoff threads have suggested that your typos and hijacks at inopportune times caused the premature ending of those threads? At least one poster has gone on record as saying that you should have been logged out before you had a chance to make those posts.
I don’t want to address any specific rumor, because I don’t want to give any credence to these people. But I will say that if you’re just looking at the typos, or if you can’t bring it upon yourself to get a thread back on track, you just don’t love the game like I do.
Excuse me - I have to go sing “Pants on the Ground” now.
(And by “excuse me” I of course mean “please follow me and continue to give me even more unadulterated praise and attention”.)
Munch, what’s your take on that kid Gangster Octopus who took over posting for you when you took your posting somewhere else? He’s had a couple pretty good years, did you know he was going to be that good? Any hard feelings about leaving your previous posting spot behind?
Well done, Munch.
As an Easterner, I’m not that into Favre, and ignorant of a lot of details of his history. But I read today about his deep and skillful media strategy: Why The Media Loves Brett Favre – Boston Sports Media Watch
Maybe you can employ this in your quest for acknowledgement of your posting greatness.
Gangster Octopus who?
I don’t mean any disrespect to Gangster Octopus, but has he ever been featured in a commercial for jeans that don’t focus on the jeans, but rather his child-like enthusiasm for posting? Or how about a commercial that focuses entirely on his complete disrespect for his previous message board(s) in a light-hearted manner that is somehow supposed to make it all better, because hey - how can you be mad at the guy when he just has so much damn fun out there?
