NFL Conference Championships (2010)

Great teams overcome bullshit calls. Especially teams that expect to make it to the Super Bowl.

Nope, had nothing at all to do with those turnovers. Nope…nothing.

I was actually shocked by my reaction. I think he’s a selfish, stupid, prima donna who has no compunction about screwing over a team to feed his massive ego, but he isn’t, in any way, shape or form, a bad man. And I always kinda liked his wife. I had thought that I’d get a great deal of joy out of watching him make a huge mistake at the end of the game that may very well have cost his team a trip to the Super Bowl. But after watching him sit on the bench and crying after the game, I actually kinda feel bad for him.

And then I read Dio’s posts, and just revel in his [Dio’s] self-immolation.

They didn’t get that 4th down either. That was incredibly clear on replay.

I don’t know about that (I actually kind of oubt that it’s true), but the Vikings aren’t a great team, just a good team that deserved to have the game called squarely.

The feelings people have about Favre are understandable but he’s a forty year old guy who was clobbered repeatedly and then watched what is likely his last shot at the brass ring slip away. It has to be many kinds of painful. He’s tough, no questioning that.

Every team deserves to have it called fairly - but it’s a relatively rare occurrence, because so many calls are subjective. If a team wants to complain about BS calls, then the rest of their game needs to be relatively mistake-free. The Vikings have absolutely zero room to bitch about the officiating after that mess.

They don’t just drink it, they live in it. It’s still the best city in America to eat, drink and have a good time.

You have to outplay the officiating. It’s been true for a long time.

Did you get a different video feed in Minneapolis? Because I just rewound it, and there are absolutely no reference markers to determine where the ball was when it reached the furthest point. The only thing that was clear about it was that it was completely inconclusive.

I understand that PI is non-reviewable but what about catchability? Shouldn’t that be reviewable?

Is there any other running back in the NFL that seems as much a liability as an asset than Peterson? Gah.

Yeah, the Favre INT was major, but the PI call was bogus and I really don’t think that last reception was legit. But all the Vikes had to do to render this conversation moot would have been to hold onto the ball. Peterson especially needs to stop greasing up before the games.

:stuck_out_tongue:

With your superior vision, the NFL should contract you to be the replay official. You were able to clearly see what the rest of us weren’t.

I wonder if this off-season will bring another exciting chapter from the latest of Aesop’s Fables: “The Favre Who Cried Retirement”.

Out of the remaining teams in conference championship weekend, I’m glad to see the Saints going to the Super Bowl – especially since they were one of 5 remaining NFL teams who have never been there. Now there will be only 4.

I think the Saints deserve some credit for the fumbles. Their defense seemed to let the Vikings pick up extra yards so they would have more room to try and force the ball out.

Now the Vikings get to play the Favre decision game…have fun with that

This. The angle that showed the ball most clearly didn’t show the field at all, which is why the announcers didn’t make a huge deal out of it. But save your breath.

Oh, I fully expect him to stand his ground, shifting only his definition of “clear” so far that not even those refs would call a pass interference on the play since it’s such a reach.

I’m not a player. I’m also not complaining about normal, legal gameplay, which is what Keith Brookings was doing.
