NFL Conference Championships

Awful call.

Decker would have caught that ball.

Dang, this is a violent game.

Looks like Kaepernick’s legs made the trip to Seattle

That dude on the SF sidelines is going to be fined, for delivering what looked like an intentional blow to the Seattle player that got knocked out of bounds on the punt at the 14:49 mark of the 2nd quarter. It looked like he stepped forward to make contact with a forearm.

It did look like that. The team may get fined. That guy wasn’t a player.

Will this be another bad call against the Seahawks?

ETA: Nope!!

Yeah I noticed he was in street clothes. Wasn’t sure if member of the staff, or an injured player. Nonetheless, cheap shot.

John Fox is pretty comfortable in the Meadowlands.

I definitely hope something comes of that. Another dick move in an NFL game. Hits are to be expected, part of the game. Cheap shots and cheating need to be really dealt with severely.

I don’t feel so bad right now about the Packers inability to stop Kaepernik’s running ability.

What was up with how they handled the Iupati injury? He clearly couldn’t put hardly any weight on the leg, so they had two (little) guys almost carry him off the field, achingly slowly, for 80 yards … until they reached the cart. Why make (or let) the injured player walk off the field? Just bring out the cart.

Great play by Wilson there.

I thought it was gonna be a mistake. Way to keep a play alive.

One thing that makes it difficult to compare is that Peyton doesn’t have the greatest raw physical talent, but he gets a lot done with his head, calling his own plays to a greater extent than most current QBs. But in the good old days, all the QBs called their own plays the vast majority of the time, so it would be very difficult to make a case that Peyton has a better football mind than, say, Johnny Unitas.

I realize that defenses are much more complex today, and I would probably rank Peyton at or near the top myself; I’m just agreeing with you that it’s hard to compare eras.

I think Peyton’s advantage is the ability to have studied Unitas.

I do enjoy watching John Harbaugh hop up and down like an asshole every time a call goes against him.

I don’t think anyone has said it yet, so I will.

Damn, I hate Joe Buck. I start hating him during the baseball season, and I stay consistent during the football season.

Why do you say like an asshole? On the other hand, Pete Carroll is a douchebag as well, so the coaches pretty much cancel each other out on the asshole scale.

I do love to see Harbaugh having a conniption.

Interesting first half, if you like defensive battles. Not so much if you like offensive highlights. Two breakdowns (Whitner letting Baldwin behind him and not stopping Kaepernick’s huge scramble) are about all the offense we’ve seen. Great game to watch the trenches though.

17 yards passing by Kaepernick in the first half. He’s aiming to break Russell Wilson’s 103 yards passing as the most futile passing game stats in a playoff win.

While I love to see the “you need an elite QB to win in the NFL” canard challenged, and I enjoy the fat guys beating each other in the trenches, I do want a modicum of greatness on offense. There’s always the second half, I guess.
