NFL Draft 2008 - Let's make a mock-ery.

Serves me right for cutting and pasting.

I think it makes sense for Dallas, who already have Barber who can carry the load for awhile. Even with injury concerns, I can’t see Stewart falling out of the first round. And the teams that passed on A. Peterson may be regretting it.

Since I didn’t get to make my team’s pick, I’m taking someone else’s…

With the 31st pick in the first round, the New York Football Giants select… (Just kidding Ellis Dee!)

You’re right, he will get drafted in the first round.

…and I will laugh and laugh and laugh.

Sure he’s no Cedric Benson …

I’m not sure if you saw the Cotton Bowl but Mcfadden looked slow to me. What made it worse is that Missouri hardly is known for a stellar defense. Maybe Mizzou just game planned him to death, I did notice that they usually had seven in the box.

He might drop out of the top ten with that performance.

McFadden ran a 4.33 40 at the combine. You are the first person to ever doubt his speed.

McFadden ran for 105 yards on 21 carries in 3 quarters in that game amidst all the drama of a coaching change before the game. He performed fine and no one will put any stock in that game because of the coaching situation.

Fair enough, as I said, he just looked slower than advertised. There are plenty of players who do great in the Combine and turn out to be busts in the NFL.

He may turn out to be a great running back, I don’t know. I was just underwhelmed.

Sooooo let me get you right. You want to pass up the super stud running back in one of the deepest offensive line drats in recent history in order to draft a guy who isn’t, by your admission, “the answer”?

Yup. We’ll be able to get Slaton in the 4th round. If he busts, we’re no worse off than we are now. There won’t be a Tackle who we can count on to contribute right away when our second pick comes around. You can reliably find RBs late in the draft, any Ot drafted after the 2nd round is going to be a project. A big reason why a guy like Slaton could be successful is because we’d have a new OT to help him. Mendenhall would be all by his lonesome back there. A RB with no line is a waste.

I dunno. I’m not buying it. I see the Bears’ needs as running back, quarterback, and offensive line. We can change the order of the last two, but they really need a productive back. A guard or two can be had later in the second or early in the third.

I’m sorry…your first sentence makes me feel bad! I’m a Bengals fan and I lost out on my pick too.

At least you agreed with the WR assessment of your team. I thought to myself that perhaps the Eagles go OT or CB here and pick up a bigger WR in later rounds, but then Jackson has the pure speed to be a Hester-type returner, too.

So there ya go.

If I was McNabb I’d be pissed about the lack of quality wideouts on my team for what seems like forever (TO aside). Wasn’t the Eagles TE Donovan’s favorite target last season?

As a Titans observer, not a money-paying fan with any real stake in the outcome, I’ll just suggest that we need a Benji Olsen replacement.

Who I’d really like to see us get is Auburn’s DE Quentin Groves, in spite of the fact that Jevon Kearse has come back. Q Groves is a beast and he and Stanley McClover were a tandem in the glory years when Brodie Croyle was humiliated in the Iron Bowl.

Other than that, no ideas, but at least somebody who knows more about it can speak for the Titans.

If you’re thinking the Titans want to go DE, they’ll be drooling over Derrick Harvey falling this far. He’s much better against the run, and a step up from Groves as a pass rusher. Harvey had 49 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. Groves had 38, 7, 3. I agree that they need D Line help, and Harvey should be a nice fit.

Titans select Derrick Harvery, DE, Florida. If that’s OK for you.

Unless a better-informed Titans fan objects, I’d say “sure, move it on along.”

Seahawks up… Who wants to put on the fat suit and oversized moustache?

Craig Stadler’s twin?

/goo-goo-gajoob

The Seahawks, arguably the team with the fewest holes in the NFC, are looking at Matt Hasselbeck and realizing that he’s been bald for 14 years. He’s got maybe two years left as a top-flight quarterback, which is the ideal amount of time to groom a youngster as his understudy…

With no TE, their only real need position, worthy of this pick, they’ll go with Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville.

  1. Jacksonville Jaguars
    OT - Chris Williams, Vanderbilt

The Jags have greater areas of need, especially on the defensive front, but they need help at the tackle position and Williams is too great a value here to pass up.

San Diego Chargers

One benefit from being in the AFC Championship game is that, generally, that means you don’t have a lot of holes. The Chargers would like to solidify some positions (D Line, RT, S, ILB, and a backup to LT). They’d love to trade down and pick up an extra pick. They’re in a tough spot because they traded their second rounder for Chris Chambers, and many of the second tier RB may be gone by then. With this draft, I think the choices come down to Kentwan Balmer, Phillip Merling, or Felix Jones. I think Jones is a bit overrated, Merling is a good pick, but I think they end up going with:

San Diego Chargers select Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina.
