I think the logic here is he’s one of Terry McLaurin’s buddies and drafting him might come with the fringe benfit of enticing Terry to re-sign. Olave is also basically a Terry McLaurin clone, which can’t be a bad thing.
To be fair, you could simplify the format to “Washington,… They’re crazy” and cover every situation.
The first pick is a potential franchise-changing opportunity. There’s always a small chance that some GM or owner who has a plan panics at the last second and offers a trade that’s in your favor. You’ve been spending the last year working on the strategy for this whole thing - what’s an extra 10 or 15 minutes to wait? It’s annoying to fans, but I certainly wouldn’t rush my time in that situation just on the off chance something unexpected comes in.
Well, the Panthers don’t shit the bed by picking a project QB, and instead go for one of the best OT in the draft. Well done.
Maybe it’s the lack of Raiders picks in the top 10 or the final realization that overdrafting QBs doesn’t work much, but no real dumb picks yet.
That’s depressing.
The Giants getting Neal at 7 is pretty good if he’s healthy.
Giants could have just got a lot better this past half hour.
Not that it affects his play, but he’s also a “local guy” which will amp up the excitement.
Holy shit, Marcus Mariota is the starter in Atlanta?! I didn’t know he was still in the league.
Giants went chalk, and there was much rejoicing. *yay*
Looking like it could be a while before we see a QB get picked barring any big surprise. Raiders don’t have a 1st rounder this year…
Jets get arguably the best CB and WR in the draft. Not bad.
I would be actually be quite happy if Malik Willis did make it to the end of the round, and the Lions took him at 32 or 34. I think the situation where he sits on a low expectation team behind Goff is worth it. If he could follow Josh Allen and, with Pro coaching, and turn the sideshow slinging into targeted passing, is worth the gamble of bustitude for that team.
Not really shocking when you have the 4th and 10th pick in the draft. And Garrett Wilson will never be the best WR in this draft.
Never is a pretty bold statement.
Welp, with London, Olave, and Williams all gone, I’m hoping the Packers wait on grabbing a WR until tomorrow. None of the WR left (maybe Burns, but I’m skeptical) are worth a first round pick . Grab Metchie in the 2nd and call it a day.
True. He may have a game where he out-stats the rest of the WR’s drafted. So, for a week or two here or there, he may be the best WR in the draft.
But in the long run, he won’t be the best WR in this class.
I don’t have a time machine to be certain, but I think he has the same chance as the other guys drafted so far.
Hollywood Brown traded to Cards, AJ Brown traded to Eagles. Unexpected.
I think the Eagles trade is actually a pretty smart move. I think draft picks are valued too highly over established players. Very little chance you get a player as good as AJ Brown with the #18 pick. I get that there’s an issue of cap management and a rookie being cheaper, but still, this seems like a good deal for the Eagles to me.
I’m SHOCKED Hollywood Brown commanded a 1st round pick. Nutty.
