NFL Draft 2022

It’s not just the draft picks … of course Brown is better than anyone left. It’s the contract. Brown’s in the last year of his rookie contract and is going to want to be the highest paid WR in an already hyper-inflated WR market. So the Eagles give up a first and 3rd for one year of value of a great contract.

I’d love to see Nakobe Dean in a Packer uniform.

Fucking speechless :frowning: absolutely fucking speechless,. :rage:

Eta: well I’ll be back in maybe in 2025; when they try again for a GM who isn’t a brain dead squid.

Someone tell me that Kenny Pickett is bad, please.

Will you come back when Williams makes the Pro Bowl?

OK, Pickett legit does have weird looking thumbs…

heee heee heeee

Makes the pro bowl 2 out a 4 years for a last place team, before refusing to sign a second contract with a cancerous team?

No.

Pickett is fine. Just … fine. I dont think he’s sexually assaulted masseuses, so he’s got that going for him.

What about drunk college girls in bar bathrooms?

I’m legit shocked that Malik Willis hasn’t been drafted yet or that he wasn’t the first QB off the board. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s going to amount to absolutely nothing as a pro, but I’m amazed no one talked themselves into the hype.

I’m not so sure that’s as bad as you think. The Lions get to move up 20 spots in the first round, and all it costs was moving down 12 spots in the second round and a 3rd rounder. To get the last player in the top tier of WRs, even with the knee injury, it’s a good trade. If healthy, I really like Williams. He’s got the potential to be really special. Well worth it, to me.

Fucking Ravens. Killing it. Kyle Hamilton at 14 is the best pick in the first round, and they just got the best center and a 4th rounder. Bastards.

Gutekunst should draft Malik Willis just to fuck with everyone.

If that happens I’m busting out the booze.

I like Wyatt there. Still, I wanted Dean over Walker. At least they didnt reach for a WR.

Off to watch gametape…

Random thought…I never like taking defensive players from the team with an overall incredible college defense. It happens with Bama a lot, and every few years with Georgia. My theory is that everyone looks a little bit better on tape when surrounded by stars soaking up attention. These players can’t be bad, or else the defense wouldn’t be great, but I think each guy gets inflated by 15%. Unscientific of course, but just my gut.

Anybody else think the Cowboys war room looked exceptionally creepy?

What a weird draft for Seattle.

They have an early pick. They don’t trade back, nor do they make some bizarre pick everyone thinks is insane. They grab a great player at one of (or maybe THE) most-needed positions for them. Draft analysts give them an A.

What Twilight Zone episode am I in?

Looking at the NFC North.

Bears: INC
Was excited for Justin Fields last season and the trade made so much sense at the time. After 1 year watching him, I’m feeling some serious anxiety about not having a pick today. It’s early, but I’m not getting QB of the future vibes and the Bears roster is barren after a number of veterans leaving (and people just sucking).

Vikings: A
Really liking what the Vikings did. They sat tight, traded back and landed a potential stud in the secondary. I really like Cine and they added a couple day 2 picks, early in the rounds to boot. That they traded in the division I think makes it even sweeter. Yeah, trade value, whatever. I’d rather have 3 picks than 2 in a draft that’s thin at the top.

Lions: C-
Of course the Lions are the other side of the coin. Having the 2nd overall pick gives them an automatic boost here, but count me as one who’s not a believer in Hutchinson. I have no doubt he’ll be a solid contributor, he won’t bust, but he’s never making a Pro Bowl. I already explained why I think they lost the trade with the Vikes, but the player they got isn’t getting me excited. He’s hurt with a serious knee injury…for a WR…less than 5 months ago. He may not play this year, and he’ll be making not trivial money on the bench. While he will probably be a productive player, he’s skinny and I don’t think he’s as good at either Smith or Waddle last year. Not a guy I’d trade up for.

Packers: C
3 Georgia defenders going to the Norris. Hopefully my theory is correct. I think the Packers got middling value for both picks. Walker I think is just a guy. A LB who benefitted hugely from having 3 first round caliber DLs in front of him. And even in that role, his stats weren’t eye popping. He also is a one year starter. I’d want more from a 1st round LB, a non-premium position. Wyatt might be a better prospect than Walker on paper. That said, his draft profile reads like a guy who doesn’t have the body type or technique you look for in a first rounder either.

On to day two.
