drm: league type/size/etc.?
Sorry, standard 10 team worm draft league, single season. (through ESPN)
Interesting little factoid. As of now, I have Calvin Johnson AND Michael Crabtree sitting on the bench with Louis Murphy and Jeremy Maclin starting. The first two HAVE to pick it up at some point, don’t they?
I disagree, if Best is playing then he starts over Jackson. Jackson may not even be the main back in the Packers offense these days, Kuhn got more yardage on fewer carries yesterday.
It’s because you look at such a small sample size and then come to these crazy conclusions about what’s right or wrong. Jahvid Best is ranked #4 and Drew Brees is ranked #25, is the Best owner getting fleeced in a trade involving the two?
A veto should be reserved for impropriety ONLY. Not because of stupidity, not because of a 3 game sample size, and certainly not because nobody else in the league has the balls to make better offers and would rather just sit on their asses and shoot down others’ deals.
Good point, was actually thinking of picking up Kuhn. I was just hoping to take advantage of the worst RUshing defense in the league. I WOULD be able to if bloody Ryan Grant didn’t get injured in my first week.
I agree with GO. Kuhn scares me (for you - not for me, I have him in the Big League and I don’t have an RB2). Best (if healthy) is the way to go - otherwise you go with a WR.
Uneven in which direction? Arguments could be made for either side.

You’re exactly right. Arguments CAN be made in either direction. Making a veto on this even more absurd.
I currently have San Diego’s defense. They’re not too bad, but they haven’t earned the points I’ve expected. Chicago’s defense is available and dumping SD for them would take effect tomorrow morning ~5est. I’m pretty far back on waivers, but I think I’ll be able to pick them up, since the people ahead of me have pretty decent defenses/need other positions. Good idea?
Vetos shouldn’t be used in almost any case amongst serious-minded players. The only thing it’s really good for is if for some reason you’re playing in a random public league and some asshat who’s 2 and 6 decides fuck it and trades away Andre Johnson and Arian Foster for kickers just to throw a tantrum. Or something clearly league breaking where something funny is going on.
If two reasonable players may have different ideas of value than you make a trade that both players seem to genuinely believe improves their teams, you have no business vetoing it.
Sam Bradford or Matt Hasselbeck this week?

I already grabbed Chicago’s defense. They have a very weak schedule coming up over the next 4-5 games (with a bye in the middle) but the huge plus is that they have Hester returning punts again (which counts in my leagues.) Hester alone should give me an additional 10 points per week because my league scoring is screwed.

Sam Bradford or Matt Hasselbeck this week?
I’d try to avoid both, but if I had to choose, it seems like Hasselbeck is the safer choice, probably a guaranteed 200-250 yards, 1.5 td’s. If you want to gamble, with Steven Jackson’s injury, it’s possible that Bradford might get another 40-50 throws.

If you look at vick’s 2006 and 2005 numbers, he’s at about 2500 combined pass/rush yards and 22-25 combined TD’s, and he missed a couple of games in both years. I think right now, nobody expected him to start so he’s getting away with a lot where he used to get shut down. I don’t think it will take long for other teams to remember how to defend against him, they just haven’t needed to do it against anybody in the past 4 years.
Oh, you don’t have to sell me on the long-term–you’re preaching to the choir there–I’m just thinking he’s going to have a very good showing against a Redskins defense that got pushed around by a Rams squad with an injury report as long as my arm and a rookie QB.
I’m going with Rodgers though, thanks all.

I’m checking before bed and the person 1 freaking spot ahead of me dumped Tampa Bay. I’ve got a bad feeling about this, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Week 4 issues:
Team 1 (my leanings on the left):
Demaryius @Tenn or Legedu vs Ari
Tolbert vs Ari or Cj Spiller vs Jets
NO D vs Car or Chi D @NYG
Demariyus will see more looks than Legedu, but Legedu has a far better matchup. Tolbert has a great matchup, but this might be a breakout week for CJ. Also, if Mathews returns and splits with Tolbert, CJ might get more fantasy points. NO has a great matchup and at home, but they have been disappointing. Lance Moore on the returns has been a pleasant surprise. Chi has been hot, but they’re facing a pretty good offense.
Team 2:
Pick 1 (flex): Hakeem Nicks vs Chi, Demaryius or Royal @Tenn, Beanie Wells @SD, Snelling vs SF
If Knowshown Moreno is healthy, he plays…if not: Beanie Wells @SD, or Snelling vs SF
All coin flips for me here…gotta pick between the bad and the worse. Royal might surprise against Tenn, if they bracket Demaryius. NYG’s o-line was beaten like a bad donkey by freeney, so Nicks might get some work out of the wr2 spot (although probably they’ll dump to the TE/RB if it gets really bad.) But, all of the wr’s have been very inconsistent. Snelling and his 10 touches might outscore all of them…same with Beanie Wells.
I am taking a chance, but I picked up Gradkowski for this week knowing he is going up against an extremely porous Texans secondary. Gradkowski has actually looked pretty good. Meanwhile, Flacco, my other QB (my backup is Big Ben) is up against the Steelers D. Fingers crossed this works.
I’m thinking of starting Robert Meachem over Mike Sims-Walker this week. I’m thinking that Brees is going to have a monster game against Carolina and even the cheerleaders will have a couple of receptions as the Saints beat up the Panthers. The Jags and Garrard have been horrible and I wouldn’t be shocked to see Garrard get pulled during this game.

Sounds like a plan. Texas is a fantasy goldmine: great offense, pathetic defense. If it’s a shootout, everybody wins. The only minus is Mario Williams. Sometimes he can just dominate a game and kill the deep passing game.
One thing you need to watch out for is Brian Cushing. If he returns, their defense is going to improve dramatically.

Don’t feel bad if Sims-Walker has a big week. I agree with you on the matchup, but right now Brees spreads it out too much to all his receivers. The only NO receiver I would play (small league) is Lance moore for the return yardage. Also, the Jags just claimed Fitzgerald off waivers from the Bills, so there’s an X factor there too. So far this season, most defenses have been confused by QB changes, as they only have time to study the starter in the previous week. Batch for Dixon, Vick for Kolb, and Hill for Stafford have all seen improvements in the same game. Conversely, Delhomme’s and Moore’s replacements have done squat. Meachem is the safe play, but if you are far behind your opponent and need to take a risk, Sims-walker could be boom or bust as he’s the only receiver other than Marcedes Lewis in Jacksonville.

Awesome, Mario Manningham has a concussion, which means more looks for Nicks. I love these new NFL rules. (He has to sit out a week, right?)
Garrard can’t get pulled. The new backup is Todd Bouman, who was coaching Pop Warner last week. He would have been pulled, but Luke McCown tore his ACL in Week 2.
Pulling Sims-Walker I can understand - although he’s just one week remove from a 10-catch game - but for Meachem? Even when Brees is spreading it around, New Orleans has enough targets for people to disappear. Take a look at Lance Moore’s numbers last year, for example.
Superhal has it totally backwards. The problem is that if Meachem does catch a pass, it’ll probably be a 60-yard bomb. Hpwever, he’s got 4 catches for 33 yards so far. I’d still take my chances with Sims-Walker - he might not catch an 80-yard score, but he’ll get you at least three catches.
