Well, too late to do anything about it now. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s covered in the next couple of days.
If it is the refs missed it (par for the course). BTW, I thought a new OT resulted in a new coin toss.
no they explained at the beginning of OT that it started a new game so the 2nd OT would be just like the 2nd quarter
I haven’t had a chance to check out the game yet but I just wanted to thank the Ravens for a good year. I know they didn’t have a chance today against the Broncos, and frankly I’m afraid to see the score. I know it will be a blowout, that’s what everyone’s been telling me.
Nevertheless thanks guys - it’s been a great year and I look forward to next year.
j/k
A question about playoff overtime rules. If they had continued scoreless through a second quarter and gone into a third quarter, would there have been another kickoff (like the start of the third quarter in regulation) or do they just continue the play from where it was at the end of the second OT quarter with the direction of play reversed?
PSXer-I missed the beginning of OT. Thanks for the info.
I don’t know for sure, but they did mention that there’d be a two-minute warning in the second overtime period, which makes me think a kickoff at the beginning of the third.
You’re not allowed to do it between quarters or during time-outs. This ought to be the same thing. Some of the Twitter chatter seems to corroborate that idea, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it come up before so I don’t know for sure. Will be curious to hear what the league has to say.
But would you get a second halftime?
It just keeps going until Christ returns. May as well not have a clock other than the play clock in playoff OT.
I’m not familiar with any of the rules about this. I’m also curious if this was another blunder from the officials.
It’s amazing how consistently bad the Special Teams of the NFC North teams (not named the Bears) are each season.
Maybe I should go all-in homer next week? And it’s comical you guys think the refs were on the Ravens side. I thought Ravens fans were the ones who bitched about refs after games? They were pretty fair/awful both ways.
Charles Woodson isn’t having a good start to this game.
The bad calls in the Ravens favor led directly to 2 turnovers and 14 points. Even if every single other questionable call when in the Broncos favor it’s not even close to equal.
I think the reffing overall was more of the all-around terrible variety, but the “tuck rule” play in particular was an egregiously bad call that directly led to the TD. I can live with the probably-missed PI call because that call is blown at least half the time on a TE over the middle and they don’t get the benefit of replay. To see that “fumble” from every angle, with all of the furor from the tuck rule over the last decade, and to NOT reverse it, is a much higher level of incompetence.
Though forgive me for thinking that the real crime here is that the NFL has kept the tuck rule after all the past furor.
Yeah the tuck rule is p. lame. The refs made the right call by every measure except the rulebook
Best game of Flacco’s career. Denver offense was unimpressive except for Holliday’s returns.
Taunting and unnecessary roughness. What happened to the class in San Fran?
