Well, half my schadenfreude weekend is complete. Just a Colts win tomorrow and I’ll feel less crappy about the end of this season.
Hard to win when your offense only scores 2 field goals.
Rematch between Houston and New England next week in Foxborough. Can’t go worse than the last time.
I’m older. Saw one Skins and probably 10 Senators games at old Griffith Stadium up on Florida AVe.
Congrats to Cincy for making the playoffs.
And yeah, in Foxboro-ugh a conservative, predictable Kubiak needs to unveil everything he’s kept hidden lest it go anything like last time.
A playoff team deactivating their starting quarterback? I’m sure it has happened before, but this is huge.
Nah, Schaub just needs to not suck and the OL needs to be solid.
Kubiak’s always been somewhat conservative. It apparently wasn’t a problem every other time (i.e. when they win). Lack of execution is a big problem. When the QB has a sub-70 QB rating and your OL can’t open up running lanes, things are going to be bad, even if you have the perfect play-calling.
I bow to your superior geezerhood!
So at Griffith, did you see the Senators v. 1.0 (now the Twins), or Senators v. 2.0 (now the Rangers), or both?
If anyone is watching the GB-MIN game right now - am I the only one who feels like the Vikes are running Tampa 2’s, Cover 3’s and Quarters coverages to turn this into a grindfest? So far Rodgers hasn’t really had anything to shoot after - if that’s what the Vikes are doing and they manage to stop the Packers from dunking on too many of their dinks, they could take this; Webb and Peterson are looking like Honey and Badger running out there.
Good games today.
I like Joe Webb, the threat of him running is giving the Packers problems, but if he has to win this game with his arm, the Vikings are in trouble. I don’t think they can’t get more than 2 scores down if they’re going to have a chance.
I don’t understand how a guy can be a starting QB in the NFL, and not know that it’s a bad idea to throw a ball up for grabs when you’re about to be sacked.
Well, I’d imagine that’s why he’s not the starter.
What I don’t understand is how a guy can be kick returner in the NFL and not know that you should run FORWARD.
That’s my impression so far. The Bikes are making sure they don’t get beat deep, and Rodgers is taking what they’re giving.
I saw the Senators v. 1.0
Jim Lemon, Eddie Yost, Camilo Pascual, Roy Sievers. They sucked.
I saw the Senators v. 2.0 at RFK in 1962, Such greats as Jimmy Piersall, Ryne Duren, et al. Amusing. All beyond their “use by” date.
Wow Webb really can’t throw for shit, can he?
You wouldn’t mind then if I think of you as Samclem Kadiddlehopper? I remember when the Rangers came down… barely. Turned me into a baseball fan, it did.
Random - I was watching The Karate Kid, the old original one, on New Years and noticed the racist drunk guy by the beach was wearing a Washington Nationals hat that looks exactly like the modern one. It was weird, it felt like someone pulled a George Lucas and digitally inserted it to keep it “fresh”.
When that movie came out there hadn’t been a Washington baseball team in like 20 years! Bizarre costuming.
13 years, actually (Nats 2.0 left after the 1971 season; Karate Kid was released in 1984), but it seemed like longer.
Vikings are done. This game was over at halftime.
I know they’re down big but I don’t understand this strategy of the Vikings. They’re playing a QB who hasn’t thrown a pass all year, but he can run, and is clearly much more comfortable running. They have Adrian Peterson. Not one of their pass plays has worked all night. Webb couldn’t hit the side of a barn. And he just got picked off. WTF are they doing?!
Christian Ponder sure looks a lot better now.
