Well, I haven’t shaved since the Vikings won, so JUST IN CASE that’s what’s making them win, I’m gonna keep growing this beard…
Do not mock the power of The Gazoo Curse. Just ask the Redskins fans (if there are any of them left) about last year. The power of the curse is downright spooky.
23 carries for 153 yards, and Bettis goes over 10,000 for his career!
Go Steelers!
I gotta say, my Brownies have turned a corner. After 5 wins in two previous seasons win have 3 wins in four games (and looking forward to Cincy). We finally faced a legitimate offense without key injures and our D held their ground.
Couch was a question mark coming into the year, his rookie year with a first year team, you couldn’t tell much. Year two he was injured for the last 9-10 weeks, but still lead us to two of our lowly three wins. While he hasn’t put up stellar numbers, in the last two weeks he bucked up in the fourth quarter and did what was needed to win the game. The guy might open a few eyes before the year is done.
Our offense isn’t as far along as our D, but even without Tre Johnson at guard we outscored San Diego and James Jackson made picking Gerard Warren over Ledanian Tomlinson look good. I still have a hard time seeing us much better than 8-8, but this team is on it’s way.
And the biggest spread failed to cover and another big spread lost outright…
Always covers, huh?
Gazoo - Oh, come on. I said covers or almost covers. (What, you expect boldness from me? Fer cryin’ out loud, last season’s NFC Championship was a massacre and I couldn’t even pick the winning team.) Although the Raiders won by “only” a touchdown, that’s because they got a big lead early and gave up points late. Nothing unusual for them; even happened last week at Seattle. Good effort from the Cowboys, I’ll admit (who are clearly not the worst team in the NFC East), but they never had a shot at actually winning.
Note too that I said “insulting” spreads, like, say, the 49ers giving up 22 or 23 points to the Bengals. Given Dallas’ season up to this point, +19 wasn’t really a shocker. Of course, the fact that they beat it just goes to show the fallacy of using the past to predict the future.
On a more positive note…Saints win and cover! Saints win and cover! THE CURSE IS OV…oh, wait, that was just some totally-made up thing on this board based on three lousy weeks. Never mind.
everyone - I’ll admit it. I was wrong about the Ravens. They seem to have found a running game…which, coupled with their offense, could give them a clear shot to the Super Bowl. (I never expected them to recover from losing Jamal Lewis. Really.)
Then again, perhaps I shouldn’t read too much into a win over the Titans, who are quickly becoming one of the bizarre mysteries of this season. What the hell’s going on with them? Well, at least they have some easier opponents up ahead, but it might be too late to stave off disaster.
And how 'bout them Bears. One word…yikes.
Defense. Ravens’ defense.
And IMHO, the Redskins are now the worst team in the NFC East. I doubt I’ll get much opposition over THAT.
Looks like he did it.
Now, if the Steelers could score just a few more points…
Just a little trash-talkin’ man. No offense meant.
