NFL Season #106, Week 1

Yeah, but after a long offseason, they have guarateed eyes for this one, so it doesn’t need to be a good matchup. They save the good matchups for the Friday night one and for Sunday Night Football.

I disagree! Start things off with a lighthearted comedy.

Heh. Or the Chiefs, right?

Super Bowl champ has opened on TNF for several years, so I’m okay with Philly hosting the first game. But it should have been against Washington…would have been a better game, IMO.

It is. They put together a very cool tribute video (XCancel link since I can’t stand Xitter) to go with it.

Yeah, I had assumed it was going to be Washington. Jalen Hurts vs Jayden Daniels is a better story than Jalen Hurts vs the recovering ghost of Dak Prescott.

I think they’re saving the PHI-WAS games for the end of the season since they’re more likely to be fighting for the division.

I’m reading an interesting book called The Yucks about those early Bucs teams which covers the expansion of the NFL in general as well.

Pretty good read so far.

That does sound interesting.

Amari Cooper Retires?

“Eh, he’s old, it’s time for him to go retire and play golf or bingo or something,” said Raiders Head Coach Pete Carroll, 73, while loudly chewing gum and bouncing around energetically.

Am I misremembering, or weren’t there originally four boyz to the men?

Jalen Carter ejected to start the game!!!

I wasn’t looking at the TV during the pregame when I heard Cris Collinsworth’s voice. I thought to myself, what is he doing pregame on Thursday night? Turns out his son Jac has the exact same voice as his father. I mean, EXACT SAME.

Well, those two teams play in 2 of the last 3 weeks of the season. Which I think is terrible scheduling, but, once again, I wasn’t consulted when the schedule was put together.

And that’s where the NFL made their mistake.

Tonight had the fastest ejection in an NFL game since 2005, when Jeremiah Trotter (Eagles) and Kevin Mathis (Falcons) were ejected for fighting 40 minutes before the game started.

Green Bay and Minnesota have the same situation this season.

I preferred when they went to division games to open and close the season. Get the blood flowing early and heighten the tension late.

I agree, totally. First 3 games and last 3 games should be divisional matchups.

Well this ended up being an entertaining game so I retract my earlier criticism, but this lightning delay shit is so overly cautious

I totally misread this as “fighting for 40 minutes before the game started.”
