NFL WEEK 10 Things I Hate About You

Lots of upsets this week so maybe the Seahawks can add to that list tomorrow.

Game lines aren’t predictions, but it ended up being dead on. The Bills are not as good as 6-2, the Browns are not as bad as 2-6. I’d have probably set it as a pick 'em as a sportsbook myself.

It wouldn’t have been that close except for incredible red zone ineptitude on the Browns part, they probably should’ve won that game by 2 TDs. Something like 11 plays run from within the 5 and no scoring.

A lot of bad play design. Slow developing run plays involving tosses when your O-line was getting destroyed.

I’m confused about the Browns offense, still - it was so well designed to the strengths of the players last year, so obviously Kitchens isn’t bad at designing an offense, but they hired an OC that has a very different style of offense and it’s totally clear it’s not suited to the players. Why would you hire what you hope to be the next young innovative offensive mind and then move away from having him design your offense?

I was never very high on Jarvis Landry, he seemed like a fine pile up the stats on easy catches guy, but he had a fantastic game yesterday. He’s actually been significantly better than OBJ in most games this year. OBJ gets the better corners and coverage, so that’s a factor, but Landry has been really good all around. To his credit, the Bills CB - White? that was on OBJ was fantastic. One of the best corner performances I’ve seen lately.

Kareem Hunt looked really good. They lined him up at receiver a few times and even had him as a lead blocker for Chubb and everything worked really well. It’ll be interesting if they continue to use those guys together on the field, it definitely worked that game.

Interesting weekend of football. I was travelling, so I couldn’t watch any games except Sunday night’s game, which was a fantastic game to watch. Two good teams. Back and forth. Lots of great plays (Cobb’s catch was oh so pretty) and not a whole lot of mistakes that give the game away (I’m looking at you Brian Hoyer). Fun game to watch.

I guess it’s true what people say about teams not being as bad as they appear and good teams not being as good as they appear. The Saints shit the bed, the Dolphins find another win, and the Bills won’t find many wins if they make Josh Allen throw the ball 41 times. Still, there is a bit of cream rising (the Pack, Vikes, and Ravens all get wins), so it will be an interesting next couple weeks. But too many not good teams beating other not good teams this week.

Looking forward to a good game tonight. Should be fun.

Well, I guess that means that folks can’t rightly accuse the 'phins of tanking, then.

Former Lions WR Charles Rogers has died. He was 38

Dammit Seahawks what the hell. Every game takes another year off my life.

But I called it. I said it would be close and I think it’s mathematically impossible to make a game closer than that.

What a game. Playoff games, by nature, are remembered longer than regular season games are but this was intense. I state again: what a game.

That was easily the Seahawks’ most impressive win of the season, to date, in my opinion. Fantastic job.

I’m thinking more and more that the Ravens are gonna be all Patriots haters’ best bet to knock New England off before the S.B.

If Gould is healthy they probably lose it.

But he wasn’t and they didn’t. It was an impressive win, no matter how you slice it. And even had they lost I would’ve been impressed with the way they fought back against the last unbeaten team in the league after that awful first quarter (Jadeveon Clowney OWNED the Niners’ O-line last night). But the 'hawks can’t let up. On paper they don’t have an easy game the rest of this season (with the possible exception of the home game vs. the Cardinals).

Sure the 49ers were missing players but this is second half of an NFL season. Most teams are missing players. The Seahawks lost Will Dissly (again) to injury and he was the most productive tight end in the league (yes, outscoring Kittle) before going down. He was the #2 receiver after Lockett. Seattle is fortune that Jacob Hollister has come alive the last couple of games to be a decent scoring TE but who knows how good they’d be with Dissly.

Seattle was also without their starting center who is also out for the year, and Joey Hunt as the replacement was physically outmatched a couple of times. He’s talented but his small size is a problem at times, especially protecting against the pass rush. I’m sure Russell would have had at least one less sack if Britt was in.

Lockett got hurt and was out for the entire OT. Maybe if he was playing then Seattle would have had a TD on their first possession and San Francisco would have never had a chance to kick.

You can play the “what if” game all day. What if the officials had thrown a flag on the egregious facemask penalty that led directly to a strip sack and score that should have been a 49ers 15 yard penalty. Who cares. Seattle was the better team when it mattered, overcame all kinds of weird setbacks, and won.

Colin Kaepernick is hosting a workout and inviting NFL teams. A guy who hasn’t played since 2017. What team wants to work a new QB into their system this late into the year? I think I’m just doomed to hear about Kaepernick, Favre, and Tebow for the rest of my life.

The Ravens. Maybe Buffalo. Washington. There are plenty of teams where passing the ball is further down the list of QB skills.

I seriously think Washington is a good team for him.

Huh? Washington is seeing what they have in Haskins. If he gets injured or is awful, the Redskins have 3 QBs rostered and have two capable NFL journeymen in Keenum and McCoy. Plus, they have an interim head coach, I can’t see him wanting to integrate a new QB into a system this late in the season for a team going nowhere. Washington has already had one PR headache with Trent Williams, I can’t see them wanting to bring on another when they’re just running out the season.

Kaep, RGIII and Jackson all in the backfield at the same time? What’s next? Tebow at TE?

or

“…and Kaep takes a knee for the Ravens as the clock winds down to zeroes…”

The league set up the workout. This is the NFL trying to preempt a second lawsuit. They sprung this on Kap with only two hours to accept or reject it. I think Kaepernick knows it’s a sham, but he really does want to play.

Has his settlement amount for the blackballing case ever been disclosed? I bet it was HEFTY, like tens of million of dollars hefty. And then the Nike money happened. He doesn’t NEED to play (well, shouldn’t need to). But…is he going to be any good after a 3 year layoff? He was an erratic passer to begin with.

LOL, Bengals are rumored to be amongst the attendees for Kap’s workout. I think Mike Brown is in a constant state of seeking new places to nap. There’s sweet dreams made of these in those naps: it’s called revenue sharing.
