That win by the Pats was all refs
And a 0.0 passer rating! Has he ever done that in his career?
In 1998 I think
I actually read this sentence: “Cam is in the MVP discussion …” on NFL.com.
I’m happy for the Panthers that they’re finding success, and being undefeated is by no means a small feat. But it’s pure idiocy to simply to think that the MVP goes to the QB of the team with the most wins. Cam, while certainly having a good year, is the 18th ranked QB in pass attempts, his completion percentage is a sad 56.3% (just under QB stud Nick Foles), he’s 19th in passing yards, and, while he’s 10th in TD’s, he’s 7th in interceptions. His passer rating is a shitty 84.8 (beaten out by Ryan Fitzpatrick of al people). His 4.5 ypc is the lowest of his career, and he’s had less than 200 yards passing in 4 of his 9 games. There is no way in hell he should be even close to being mentioned as a candidate for MVP.
Just another example of just how crazily inflated the perceived value of not bad QB’s is.
I think Dalton and Brady is in discussion for the MVP. Dalton is playing like a boss
18 TD passes and 4 Ints
Is Seattle defense tuning around? We can only hope.
Sherman you have to go for the INT not the tip drill.
What I took away from the Pats-Giants game was disgust with how many (correct) pass interference calls we racked up.
The Giants wouldn’t have been half as scary as they were that game (excellent defensive performance not included) if we hadn’t kept giving them unnecessary first downs on third down by blatant interference.
It was like watching a different team. We haven’t been making that kind of nonsense mistake all season. And it kept happening over and over. Where was the adjustment?
I actually have to say it, the coaching is to blame. There should have been some adjustment mid-game and there just wasn’t any since it kept happening. And usually the Pats do a sterling job coaching.
Anyway, the Giants always have our number, and that one was a coin toss. They got a few lucky plays in but the only way we ended up on top was doing the same. And they could have managed the clock better, I didn’t see the last few minutes of play because recorded game, but I walked away at the point of the game where there was essentially zero chance of the Pats winning with proper clock management, only to be confused reading what happened next.
Well played Giants. Pats, you got lucky as hell.
There was a play near the end of the Lions/GB game where they reviewed the fumble and ruled the player down-by-elbow. So, the review gave GB a free timeout. That seems kind of wrong, because, as ruled, the clock would have kept running. The refs should give the teams about five seconds after the announcement to get their squads swapped out, then fire up the clock.
Just got around to watching the Browns game. I thought Manziel actually looked pretty good. He wasn’t helped at all by… any other part of the offense. Free rushers up the middle a lot. He took too many sacks, but the replays often showed no one open at all. He was bizarrely robbed of a rushing TD on a call/review that wasn’t even close, and he hit receivers between the numbers or on the hands in the end zone at least twice. His arm strength looked good, and his passes were pretty accurate. If he actually had a decent offense around him, he’d have had a very good game.
Wish the cowboys had manziel
Hehehe, the Cowboys need to sign Tebow! God’s quarterback for God’s team!
ducks and runs
The clock is started back up in that situation. If it wasn’t, it was either a mistake by the officials, or you missed it happening. Teams in that predicament are usually ready to go immediately when the head ref gives the wind-it signal.
Meh, there were plenty of PI calls against the Pats that game that could have gone either way, too. If Beckham held on to the ball it wouldn’t have been up to the refs to rule (properly by the rules, but a silly rule I admit) on the play. The play calls by the Giants after that were atrocious.
Great game, difficult to watch but happy with the results. Except for Edelman’s injury.
Manziel looked better, yes. He was on target with passes and seemed to fight the urge to take off and run more often than not. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, though. Once or twice I almost wished he would tuck and run it.
Personally, I don’t think it was so well played, at least at the end. While the Gints running backs are nothing to worry about, down at the goal line needing seconds off the clock, the Gints should have been running, not throwing. They should have been in Eli’s ear saying “I don’t care what defense NE is showing, hand the friggin’ ball off!” Instead, Beckham’s drop in the end zone stops the clock. After that, all Brady had to do was keep feeding the ball to Gronk, because the Gints’ D has a very distinct form of color blindness where they cannot see the opponent’s TE.
That was a *really *shitty game to watch, except for the final score. Poor execution all around, poor play calling, erratic officiating, even insight-less announcing. But no more Pats O-linemen got injured, even if Edelman did, and the perfect record is intact.
As an aside, I’ll submit this video: Drew Stanton, backup QB, celebrating. It’s fun to see a grown ass man acting like an over-excited kid. Made me smile.
When the giants was up 20-10, they made sure they changed the momentum so they pats could get back in the game. It only takes one flag to flip the momentum
Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel both got concussed. I’m almost as big as Gabriel, he has 15 lbs on me.
I think Manziel should start for the rest of the year to determine once and for all what they have in him, but that all depends on Haslem and what assurances he’s given Pettine and Farmer. Hard to retain those guys if they finish the season with 2 or 3 wins, but they’ve got to maintain some continuity if they want to go anywhere.
Haven’t seen any other Giants games this year, have you?
This is arguably their FOURTH loss this season where clock management cost them the game (the others are the first Cowboys game, Falcons, and Saints). If the Giants had won just two of those games, they’d be 7-3 and fighting for a possible bye week in the playoffs. Instead, they’ll be in a battle to make the playoffs at all.
