I guess it’s not reviewable because Schwartz got the penalty for throwing the challenge flag, which delays the next snap. From rule 15-9:
So the point of the rule seems to be to prevent a defense from intentionally committing a foul in order to give the replay official more time. That logic doesn’t apply in this case obviously, but I guess the rule still does.
The play was going to be looked at automatically by the replay official, in the same way that every play after the two minute warning is always looked at by the replay official. It’s only reviewed by the referee if the replay official calls for the review. Before the replay official called for a review on this play, Schwartz threw the challenge flag, getting the penalty and delaying the next snap.
I imagine that any such penalty after the reviewable play is considered to have delayed the snap, but I don’t know for sure. There’s no way to know whether the snap was delayed, since we don’t have a control universe where Schwartz never threw the flag to compare to.
Man, I absolutely LOVE that Schwartz threw that flag and cost his team the game. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Guess that’ll wipe that smirk off your face, Jimbo!
Why are Dallas wearing their blues at home? Look like throwbacks, but do they not have throwback white uniforms (or do they just look too much like the current whites)?
Interesting how the talking heads are basically calling the Cowboys’ season over and the Redskins “in the driver’s seat” for the division. They’re both 5-6!
Sanchez runs into his own guy and fumbles the ball; Pats pick it up and score. Too funny. He runs right into Moore and decleats himself. Even funnier in slow-mo.
Coincidentally the first Skins game I’ve been able to watch in a while, and the first time in a while I’ve felt hopeful. I’m going to FedEx in a couple of weeks for the Ravens, I hope to see the Skins win a meaningful game.
