NFL Week 17

My Saints are out of it, so I think I’m going to jump on the Denver bandwagon. It would be good to see Peyton Manning get another ring…

Terrible reversal of the fumble by Luck. He wasnt trying to pass. His arm moved forward after being hit from behind. Houston got screwed out of 3 or 7 right there.

Oh, I know. But it seems a good way to sum up the NFC east this year.

Watching the Lions just not give a fuck and handing the Bears a game isn’t as much fun as I had hoped.

You sure we’re talking about the same NFC East, Locrian?

We’ll see tonight if it finishes up that way, but if the Redskins win, the summary of the NFC East this year will be: a team with a pathetic recent history and a promising new star got off to a slow start, then the pieces fell together for them and they sliced through the rest of their schedule, and the rest of their division, like a hot knife through butter.

Meanwhile, the Bears are beating up on the Lions, 20-3, and if that holds up (it would be a surprise if it didn’t) it would take the NFC East teams out of the wild card picture. Gotta admit I like the added clarity for tonight’s game - it’ll be win or go home for both teams. And tough luck, Giants: you’re winning big today, but it’s too late, baby.

It gives me no pleasure to say that he’s a legit steal. He’s the team’s leading tackler, and better in coverage than you expect any rookie LB to be. Lewis and Zimmer say he’s very coachable (one of the big pre-draft issues), and he’s getting better every week.

Would you kick an extra point after scoring a touchdown that puts you 2 points behind your opponent?

In the middle of the third, yes. I personally would rather go for a clean kill than deal with a possible tie, an a two-pointer is a pretty big risk (about 50%, IIUC).

Houston? I’d call that a bad decision by Kubiak.

The subsequent return may make it moot.

Bears win. Giants are out. Redskins can’t win the wild-card.

DO or die, baby! Completely stoked for this game.

Lions turn the ball over 4 times and the Bears still only win by 2. And now they get to root for the Packers to beat the Vikings.

See: Here

Hey! I won! It’s a shame we never worked out what I would be getting right now. I remember you offered eleventy billion dollars, but I can’t find a cite for some reason. Totally real, though.

In Eagles news… finally this season is officially dead. The single most interesting offseason in my Eagles fandom is about to begin.

Giants missing the playoffs? Niner Nation says, “Wooooo Hooooo!”

Id imagine most football fans in the whole of Pennsylvania are glad this year is over.

So far, all we know for sure about next week is that the Falcons get a rest and the Colts will be going to Baltimore.

See, they should have saved themselves the trouble and never left in the first place.

In other news, no team with something to play for looked worse than Houston today. The way they’re playing the rest of their season will be brief.

Patriot Nation agrees!

Agree. IMO he’s already the MVP. I don’t care if Peterson gets 500 yards today – at most, he’ll help the Vikings get a wild card spot. Manning has carried Denver to the #1 seed. You can’t be more valuable to your team than that.

Now it’s time for the annual “How will the Lions fuck up the draft this year” waiting period.
