NFL Week 17

Last week of the season. Football season went by so fast.

Interesting story about a late Friday night party with Manziel and Josh Gordon. I’m not picking on the Browns, but this is really turning into a trainwreck. Did I miss work a couple times after late night when I was in my early 20’s? Sure, but if I’m Josh Gordon, already on thin ice, I don’t attend parties until the season is over. If I’m Manziel, I don’t throw parties one day after telling the world that he needs to take his job more seriously.

Justin Gilbert affected by the party as well and is expected to be inactive today. What a mess.

Will the Atlanta Falcons stumble into the divisional championship and the playoffs or will it be the Carolina Panthers bumbling their way to glory? I can’t wait! Stumble-bumbling at its best!

Well, this is probably the Lions biggest game in decades. I hope it’s fun.

I just want to thank the Chiefs. Thank you, Chiefs.

Panthers are kicking ass in Atlanta!

I am unclear on QB substitution rules - if the pull Rodgers out (so Flynn can hand it to Lacy), can Rogers come back in, or is he out for good?

Other positions seem to be substitute at will, but I don’t remember a QB once out coming back. (but then again I do not follow football closely)

Brian

QB can come back in.

That rule is (was? I think it’s been changed) for the designated “emergency” quarterback, not for the plain old second stringer.

Agreed! At the same time, though, the Ravens and their decimated secondary don’t exactly look like playoff world beaters. Of the other AFC teams, they probably match up the best against New England, but they have to get through Pittsburgh or Cincy first. A bit of winter weather next week would be a big help.

But man, what I wouldn’t give to have Jimmy Smith back.

Where has this Panthers’ D been all year?

Answered - Aaron is back (if not at 100%)
The pack is in a tough situation - without #12, they probably will not win, but if he gets (more) hurt, they will not get much farther. But on the gripping hand, if they win they get a bye which gives an extra week to heal…
Brian

Congratulations to the Panthers! Sure it was a crappy season, but the way they have played recently,be careful!

I always wanted to see a fumble-touchback, that was pretty cool.

Seahawks get the #1 seed. Now if the Ducks can beat FSU in spite of their injuries, this will be a decent week.

Yeah, that was pretty wild.

Only day in my life this rabid Seahawks fan ever rooted for the Niners.

Suh makes it so easy to hate him.

Well given the Bengals inability to win playoff games, I’d rather the Ravens play them. Either way it’s gonna be a divisional away playoff game which are always tough. They played the Bengals a lot closer than the Steelers even though they got swept. Anything can happen but I never expected this team to be in the playoffs. I do think they have a better chance at going 1/3 against the Bengals than 2/3 against the Steelers. However, in the unlikely event that they do get a win against a rival, New England would be a tall task.

But hey, Ngata is back!

His back was to Rodgers, but he knew Rodgers was back there and if he kept stepping, he would eventually get to him. It’s not like he was off balance, he just kept stepping. And when his first foot stepped on Rodgers, he did not have the expected reaction of "Oh Shit! and then step away from what you just stepped on. He had no reaction and just kept stepping in the same direction even though it was clear he was stepping on a player.

He should be fined and suspended for at least one playoff game. There are several prior convictions, so a plea for bail should not be granted. A stupid, selfish move for such a talented player (ugh! I hate admitting this) on the eve of his team’s playoff game, in which he (hopefully) will be missed.
