NFL Week 2

Except for giving the Broncos more time to sort out their own play without having to use one of their own timeouts.

>mfw i picked the Chiefs in pick 'em

This works both ways, it gives the Chiefs a chance to catch their breath and regroup. Plus if Reid does see some sort of problem, than which is more foolish, calling the timeout or letting the play continue anyway just because you give the other team an extra minute to discuss their play. There is no way the Bronco’s are calling a timeout with the clock stopped just to discuss a play. Its just not going to happen… not with Manning at QB.

I’ll just say that we’ve been through this whole “Peyton Manning can’t throw anymore, he lacks velocity, this is the end” routine at least twice already in his career, and so far it hasn’t taken. He hasn’t passed the eye test yet so far… but his team is 2-0 and he just hung 31 points on a decent defensive team, with 3 touchdown passes and a game-tying drive in the last two minutes. I’ll believe he’s done when the sun rises and he finally crumbles into dust, is what I’m saying here.

Not only does Payton lack any zip on his throws, but he is spending more time on his back so far this year than he did last year. Frankly, I’m surprised the Broncos didn’t put more emphasis on their O line. What, 60 total rushing yards for Denver? The Chiefs did Payton a favor not blitzing more often. I get that they don’t want to leave anyone uncovered because he gets rid of the ball so quickly, but I think the book is out. Blitz all the time, even if you don’t get sacks the pressures and knock downs will wear him out.

Hey, remember that one time a team ran a draw play at the end of a half and it went for an 80 yard touchdown? No? Nobody remembers that?

He’s been noodle-armed for as long as he’s been in Denver. It helps to have someone like Demaryius Thomas at WR to go up and get your 20 yard wobbly duck throws.

He’s been throwing like that for most of his career. Manning isn’t one of the best QB’s of all time because of his rifle arm or perfect spiral. He’s one of the best because he’s accurate, he knows where to throw the ball, he throws with anticipation, and the ball is catchable.

There is no doubt, he’s lost some arm strength, but to call him “noodle armed” is just silly, and, while it helps to have a Demaryius Thomas, he’s not the reason Manning is considered one of the greats.

I think we’re definitely seeing the tail end of his career, but I’m more dismayed by his questionable decisionmaking and lack of accuracy than a perceived “noodle arm”. That and that offensive line.

Those throws on Denver’s last drive were pure ‘go up and get it’ 3 step drop throws. I mean, it worked. It didn’t give the pass rush any time to get to him, and his throws were either going to be caught or sail out of bounds. But I can guarantee that none of Denver’s opponents have to worry about defending go routes.

Watching that last drive again, I think KC’s safeties did a poor job.

He’s never been John Elway or Brett Favre, but you’re selling his arm strength short by a lot. He’s always had very good velocity on his passes, especially full body set passes with good technique. His velocity has declined noticibly since his surgery, but it took another big step down this year.

Johnny Football is your week 2 starter for the Browns. Surprisingly, I’m glad. This is not a playoff year not matter what so, yet again, let’s see what we got at QB so we know what we need. I think Johnny showed something last week and I hope he can build on it against the Titans. I still doubt his NFL ability, but might as well get confirmation.

JOHNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I disagree. It might be necessary, but starting Manziel isn’t a good thing for him or the team. He’s simply not ready to be an NFL QB. All he’s shown so far in his career is the physical ability to make some splashy plays, but no ability to understand and competently run an NFL offense. He gets rattled very easily and I don’t see anything that indicates he knows what he’s supposed to be doing.

He could develop into a real NFL QB, but he’s simply not comfortable or developed enough at this time to play. Throwing him out there will, to my mind, not help, but only hinder, any development he could make, and wouldn’t confirm anything other than he’s still not ready.

What’s best for the Browns is for the team to play just well enough to get the 4th-10th pick in the draft every year and never get their franchise QB.

Cards run the kickoff back for a touchdown. Nothing would make me happier than the Cards in first place in the NFC west and the Seahawks in last. The hatred i had for the 49ers has been transferred and doubled against the arrogant Jesus loving, egomaniac enabling, Seahawks

Clausen warming up for the Bears ? I didn’t see an injury to Cutler

Refs called a delay of game 30 seconds after the play started. Browns recovered a fumble, no flags or whistles, long play with scrambling. Delay of game. Fucking bizarre.

Apparently Cutler was injured trying to make a tackle during his interception. Clausen in at QB for the Bears. Cutler is now less popular than the St. Louis Cardinals in the city of Chicago

I know it’s only the first half today, and the defense/special teams are carrying the water, but care to change your opinion of whether he’s ready. Playing very mature football today.
