I’m not watching the game closely. I see he has sacked then fumbled twice in the third quarter. And that nearly half his passing yardage was on one throw to a wide open Benjamin. Are those what you’re referring to as “mature”? Or should I watch the whole game?
Heh. Seconds after I post, NFL.com says he threw another 50 yard TD to Benjamin.
Panthers win but came way too close to fucking it up at the end. Gotta stop these costly penalties
Ryan Mallet of the Texans got flagged for intentional grounding and they gave them a ten yard penalty for that. I hadn’t seen that before; I thought grounding was just at the spot of the foul with a loss of down???
Speaking of noodle armed QBs, Brees looked bad today. Really bad by his standards. His passes were off target, and lacking velocity he’s had in the past.
(As a Browns fan) I never disliked Brandon Weeden for anything he did off the field, he seems like a decent guy. On the field, well it wasn’t all his fault but he certainly didn’t help himself. With the shape the NFC east seems to be Weeden has something like an opportunity to reinvent himself, if he can play well enough to keep the Cowboys in contention till Romo comes back his career might yet have something like a pulse.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but it’s not like Johnny’s sitting behind Brett Favre. If he’s not ready now, how do we know he’ll be ready next year? I do think game time is the best training tool for NFL QBs.
As for his actual play, he didn’t lose the game and he made 2 big throws to Travis Benjamin. There was a good stretch of that game where the Browns offense was putrid, though. It’s not all Johnny’s fault. They have no running game and the only way their receivers can get open is if they blow past the defense.
Best? Yes. First, no. I watched a bit of the game on Game Pass, and he still looks like he can run a few plays, but others he looks completely lost running an NFL offense. He got quite lucky that Perrish Cox dropped an interception when Johnny threw a jump ball into double coverage, and that his teammates were quick enough to recover his two fumbles. I think he would be better served learning how to play the position of NFL QB than reinforcing his questionable decisionmaking.
Manziel showed you his game again. He’s at his best running around, buying time, and flinging it to either really tall guys (Mike Evans) or really fast guys (Travis Benjamin), who get open. That’s his current game, and it’s exciting and all, but it’s not consistent and won’t work all the time, especially against good, disciplined teams.
I can honestly say that I have never seen a more poorly played professional football contest than yesterday’s game between Dallas and Philly. Not to say that some individuals didn’t play well, but overall it was poorly planned and horribly executed by both teams. If I’d paid money for a seat in that stadium, I’d have felt insulted.
