The refs in this fucking game. Shrine jumps over Green looking back making a play on the ball. PI. Bengals safety fucking tomahawk chops Gordon’s arm while staring straight at him 2 seconds before the ball arrives, nothing.
Look at me, not getting my hopes up for the Lions, nope not getting hopeful at all.
I have been torn between my desire to gloat and my well earned expectation of an implosion.
The reffing in this game is fucking ridiculous.
Its the Reggie Bush show in Detroit today.
Schaub, Seattle’s 12th man.
Heh, I’m loving the pick-6, but nervous about Texas getting the ball in a tie game with about 2:40 to go…
I appreciate the Texans playing in the 1st half since they called it in in the 2nd. After that nice break I wonder if they’ll participate in the 3rd?
Joe Buck looks like his underwear has ridden up his ass.
What a terrible penalty negating dropping Tate on about the 10. 20 yard benefit on rekick.
Browns D is solid. AJ Green was held to 51 yards receiving, and the Bengals to 266 total. Joe Haden and Buster Skrine had phenomenal days.
Woo Hoo, Bills over Ravens 23-20. This is why I stopped betting on football years ago.
Ravens are taking this one poorly, The Bills QB was kneeling down the last few plays as the clock was winding down, Ravens idiot took a 15 yard unsportsman like penalty for blowing through the line and clocking him. What a cheap shot.
Worse penalty on the belly-to-back suplex after the play was over. Kept the eventual game winning drive alive with stupidity.
Right, but that was a clear penalty. I think lieu was complaining about the call (which was marginal, but I think I’ve seen that same penalty about a half dozen times already this year), but I may have misunderstood.
That’s not exactly what happened. Manual wasn’t kneeling - he was just standing behind the line letting the clock run. The play wasn’t over (and the Ravens couldn’t call timeout) until they actually tackled him. Suggs made a normal tackle when just a shove would probably have been enough, but it’s a stretch to call it a cheap shot.
Alright, so thoughts.
The Browns-Bengals game shouldn’t have been that close. That felt much more like a 27-3 type level of domination, but the refs were working hard to give it to the Bengals.
The Browns front 7 is great to watch, much better than I expected. They were basically remade entirely - different alignment, different scheme, different coaches, new players - and yet they’ve hit the ground running this year to be one of the NFL’s best units.
Desmond Bryant was the best FA signing this year by a mile and it was pretty cheap and very little fuss or interest.
I was really disappointed with the drafting of Barkevious Mingo, but I was wrong. He looks like a man among boys out there - just running circles around everyone. He was getting pressure and making plays everywhere during his first start.
I love Ray Horton. Obviously he put together the units I’m praising, but also because I fucking hate when NFL defenses play soft and loose at the end of the game. They might dominant throughout the whole game, and then during the last drives they’re coached to give up on what got them to this point and just let the opponent’s defense march down the field. I fucking hate that so much. Horton’s playcalling actually got more aggressive on the final drives, coverage was tight, the pressure was there - there was some fantastic defensive playcalling all game.
So after everyone was sure the Browns were tanking the season 2 weeks ago, they’re now 2-2 and tied for first in the AFC North.
Yessir, in replay after being pushed out he beelined straight for the receiver coming back into play quickly and at a cutting, appropriate angle, absolutely no parallel extension. How did that differ from what the rule mandates?
Yes, the PF following for throwing down a runner was idiotic but, absent the bad call, it never happened.
In the end the Texans just still haven’t developed the killer will to put a team away when they have the advantage.
If it hasn’t been said enough already this season, Peyton is on a freaking mission this year. It’s almost boring to watch Denver in how clinical he’s been so far, like on the 52 yard throw just now. Pocket collapses around him, 5 yards from his end zone, and he calmly steps up and launches a 52 yard bomb that falls into his receiver’s hands in stride and over the shoulder. If he can keep it up, I don’t see how any team this year can keep up with him in the playoffs.
As I said, I’ve seen this half a dozen times this year. Apparently the NFL wants to see them take a more direct route back inbounds. Also, he wasn’t pushed out.
Man oh man do the Giants suck hard. That was a total embarrassment.
Not to take anything away from the Chiefs, who played solid and caused the Giants to look bad. I’m happy for Chiefs fans; not only are they 4-0, but the impression I got from brief glimpses of the Chiefs last week were confirmed while watching their whole game this week: Alex Smith is a real quarterback. This may not have been his best game, but every time he dropped back he “felt” like a real quarterback who could deliver the throw and lead his team. After the Matt Cassel era I’m happy for the Chiefs fans to have a QB they can get behind.
This is a good season for unheralded franchises, with some of the old guard teams like the Steelers & Giants combining for an 0-8 record. With my Giants now pretty much already looking ahead to the 2014 draft I’m adopting the Seahawks as my rooting interest for 2013. It would be very cool to see them win it all. Nobody in the AFC has really grabbed me yet, though atm I’m kind of leaning toward the Chiefs.
