We should do mid-season grades.

My 49ers are rolling, and they’ve only played one game inside their weak division. Other teams should fear them. Damn it feels good to be able to say that.
Offense: the passing game sure needs work, but it’s not losing us games. The running game is actually fun to watch, it’s really creative and deceptively dynamic. Gore is having a great year despite starting slow. Grade: B+
Defense: it couldn’t be much better. #1 rushing defense, #1 scoring defense, haven’t allowed a rushing TD all year. Navorro Bowman outplaying his All-Pro counterpart, Patrick Willis. I love it. The safeties are a minor weakness. Grade: A+
Special teams is among the best in the league. Grade: A
Overall Grade: A

Can a ball carrier commit a facemask penalty?

Yes. They can push against a facemask, but they can’t grab it.

Every week the impending Holmgren bodyslam takeover grows closer.

Saints up 17-3 on the Bucs at the half. Need a win to get back on track after the debacle in St. Louis last week.

GEAUX SAINTS!

Good thing we saved that 500k or whatever by letting Vickers go, so he can kick the shit out of us and we can manage 3.2 YPC without him.

Tavaris, I would agree. I think most people are giving you an “F”.

Miami is killing KC. There goes 14 confidence points.

OK, I’m a loyal Cowboys fan and all, but I’d really love to hear an explanation of that last interception call. It looked to me like Sensabaugh and the Seahawks receiver (Baldwin?) both had a solid grip on the ball when they came down. Doesn’t that go to the offensive player? But the refs reviewed it on tape & awarded the ball to Dallas anyway.

Interesting end to the DAL/SEA game. SEA WR Baldwin jumps over the back of DAL Sensabaugh and the both catch the ball at the same time. Rulling on the field is an interception, giving the ball to DAL who kneel to end the game.

I am guessing that the review whowed that Baldwin did not have full control.

I’m thinking it’ll be cheaper if instead of going to the bar every weekend I just stay home and hit myself in the balls with a hammer.

It’s weird that I rail on so much about a fullback, but man am I puzzled and incensed by the whole ordeal. Vickers is one of the toughest motherfuckers in the league and set the tone on offense. So many of the big runs that made the Browns offense run last year were behind Vickers demolishing one or two defenders. And the great thing is - fullbacks are like kickers, you can have the best one and it’s gonna cost you what, 1.3 million a year or something?

But they let him go and then wasted a 4th round pick on a replacement who looks like a pansy asshat out there but supposedly is a schematic improvement because you need a guy who can catch the ball in a WCO. The 3 receptions he’s put up this year are clearly a vast improvement.

If Vickers were around, he’d be kicking Hillis in the vagina and making him play. He’d challenge the entire offensive line to a fist fight and win. Getting rid of him to save a few hundred thousand a year (and a 4th round pick - a guard that could play would look nice right about now!) has to be one of the worst price/performance decisions in recent history.

The 49ers win yet another rough and tough East Coast road game, primarily through the defense. They still haven’t allowed a rushing TD this year.

Fucking Rivers. Has anyone declined so badly from one year to the next?

Rivers, 2 pick sixes and the first quarter isn’t even over.

He has more INTs so far this season than he has in the entirety of any other season.

Ordinarily three TD passes in the first quarter would be pretty impressive.

Seems to me that the Chargers secondary is doing a pretty good job. Rodgers is having trouble finding open receivers.

Who the fuck needs Rodgers when they have Rivers?

Miami finally won one. Although I don’t really care either way, I often root for the underdog.
