NFL Week 6 - Now With Ranting!

Impressive. If you want to argue that holding occurs as often against other people, I’d think you’re wrong, but would at least have an argument.

Suggesting that it is imaginary makes you seem like a petty, sad whiner.

But you have a crusade, and can make some contributions repeatedly through any football thread with it. If that’s what you’ve got, I suppose you ought to run with it.

Kudos to CBS or the NFL for cutting over to the Bills/Jets game. I was under the impression that that was against league rules. Apparently the rules don’t apply when it’s 52-0 early in the third.

48 yard run by Chris Johnson. Let’s see how the Titans foul up this scoring opportunity.

By fumbling. Twice.

I heard a rumour that before the game Jeff Fisher and Bill Belichick decided to forgo the tedium of an actual game in favour of a Madden '10 duel. It seems Jeff Fisher is TERRIBLE at video games.

Whatever, call me when Mike Pereira backs your side.

Figures. I’ll have to explain it multiple times and very slowly so Steeler fans can understand. Will you be needing visual aids too?

Of course Harrison gets held. A lot of DE/OLB get held. I’m not saying he isn’t being held sometimes. Hell, I’ll even give you that he is being held at a rate higher than the average, if that assuages your itty widdle Steeler feelings. It’s the constant whining I can’t stand. It’s the stupid belief that he’s somehow targeted for non-calls that I can’t stand. It’s the belief that somehow if he were someone else or played for some other team, he’d get a lot of calls, that I can’t stand.

Got it now, or do I have to get a Bengal’s fan to explain it to you?

I’ll assume you don’t read many of my posts, because I contribute a fair amount to football threads, and roughly .1% of it is because of James Harrison. It’s not a crusade, it’s an observation about reality and a comment on the constant bitching of Steeler fans.

I apologize if this has been discussed already in the thread (I did read it but I might have missed something). Because I live in Denver, I never can watch my beloved Panthers (too cheap to spring for the all-access package). Can someone tell me the deal with the Panthers’ safety and his apparently utterly indefensible behavior? Link to a video?

Did the Patriots seriously just go for it on 4th and 6 with a 52 point lead?

Yes, yes they did. I can’t decide whether that’s awesome or really assholish (or perhaps both).

They went for it despite holding massive leads all the time in 2007. Good to see Belicheck is still a douche.

Rod Woodson made a good point about NE running up the score, he said (paraphrasing) “you don’t like it? Stop them.” I still think it’s a bit assholish of them but he’s right. If they other team doesn’t like it they can rise to the occasion and stop them.

I don’t know that they ever led that much, though (59-0 now).

For what it’s worth, I’m a Pats fan (it’s not my fault; I grew up there). I can understand why this stuff pisses people off, though.

The 52-7 blowout of the Redskins was the most salient one from that season.

Is this what passes for logic for Steeler fans? “There are uncalled holding calls, therefore, they must have involved Harrison far more than anyone else. Now I need to go pour more cheese on my steak! GO STEELERS!!!”

Of course there are non-calls for holding. It’s the delusion that all those missed calls somehow involved James Harrison that is laughable. And the nigh but constant whining about it that makes it extra pathetic.

You know how in Madden when the other player is running it up on you, you just start playing the “punt block” defense and rushing 11? I’ve always wondered if an NFL coach would have the stones to run that in real life. Just to send a message.

Oh, and Hamlet, that was pretty funny smack talk. Don’t ruin it by dragging it down to GD territory

They went for it on 4th down twice in the fourth quarter while leading 45-0 in that game. Cassel was in on the second one, for what it’s worth.

Maybe he wants a shot at that Bears 73-0 record rout of the Redskins.

I bench Big Ben for McNabb and he repays me by not throwing a touchdown pass against Oakland?

Who said they were? The ones that affect the Steelers are mostly Harrison. Pereira has commented specifically on several including the one that helped knock them from the playoffs two seasons ago.

I don’t see how any of this is whining. The Steelers’ line holds too, although we did get rid of the worst one. Anyhow, we aren’t going to agree and I have football to watch, later.
