Did Jim Harbaugh horsecollar Schwartz? Is that why he was so upset?
I fucking hate how the highlight shows now show roughly 10 seconds of highlights per game so that they can free up the retarded talking heads to spout cliches at each other.
I want to see football. I don’t give a shit about the ex players talking about how the players have to give 110%.
Yet the ratio of showing actual football highlights to listening to idiots say NOTHING INTERESTING EVER is at least 1 to 8 or so.
Inside the NFL doesn’t even cover a few games every week now because they wanted to fit in more time for stupid bloviating.
I mean, who is the target audience here? Does the average football fan really prefer to hear athletes or coaches spouting cliches instead of watching clips of actual football?
I agree. They were even “talking” about my team and I still wanted more actual football.
I get what you’re saying, but I think the Internet is both the cause of and the solution to the problem. You can go to nfl.com and watch more in-depth highlights and postgame for the games you want than you ever got on NFL Sunday in its heyday. The talking heads assume you have seen the clips you care about and want to hear their opinions about an unsportsmanlike handshake.
I’ve had enough of the word “untracked.”
Even if I’ve seen every highlight, I don’t want to hear their opinions on anything. There is more than enough time during the week to spout idiotic opinions on a non-issue, show me great grabs in HD, dammit!
Devin Hester, you are ridiculous.
I hate it when they say trickeration.
Definitely some rediculous rediculousness.
Well, the Browns found out today that Colt McCoy is definitely not a starting QB in the leauge. He’s a nice backup, which they’ve already got in Seneca Wallace. I had’t heard that stuff about Hillis’s agent telling him to tank games…that’s not cool. It’s not Rosenhaus is it?
As for SF, Harbaugh is a douche. Did you guys see the fight break out because the Lions weren’t keen on his “boyis exuberance” after the game?
Schwartz was angry because he got out coached for the last three minutes.
Bit early for that. He hasn’t even started a full season’s worth of games yet, and has no wide receivers, middling tight ends, and a so-so offensive line.
I’m happy about the win, but I’m also worried that we forced 4 turnovers, allowed none, ran the same number of plays for roughly the same yardage, and still only won by 6.
Ponder’s in for the Vikes. He’s not looking too bad, either.
And even when i’m watching the game, I want to see more “actual “football””
He looked incredible, actually. Crisp decisions and quick release, uncanny pocket awareness (and it wasn’t like he was lofting it up against a prevent, either), great looking ball on his throws. I was really surprised.
The pocket awareness thing was the most impressive to me. Rookies either have none at all and take a bunch of devastating sacks, or they get really antsy and feel pressure that isn’t there. It seemed like Ponder stayed in the pocket until the exact perfect second and ran the exact perfect way to avoid the rush. And he threw the ball away instead of being stupid. Very impressed.
I’m in Vegas and have spent the day gambling on football and partying in the sports books, it’s been awesome. I don’t have time to read the whole thread but I’m just going to toss in some drive-by comments.
That Megatron 2.0 non-catch in the Lions game by Burleson was kinda bullshit. That was exactly the same scenario as the CJ drop and it was ruled no catch, this time the refs give a make up call and totally grant them a bogus TD. Argue whatever you want about that rule, but there’s no reason why those two catches should have been ruled differently.
The Saints totally rat fucked me. I overslept a bit due to some heavy clubbing last night and missed the chance to wager on the early games, as a result I had a bunch of extra bets on the late games. I stupidly parlayed and teased the Saints in nearly all of them. Had Brees seen that wide open WR (Meachem?) on that late 4th down play in the endzone I’d have at least won all my teasers. I remain convinced that the Saints would have run away with this game had Payton not gotten folded up on the sidelines. I think it was a seriously problematic fluke for the Saints.
Loved watching the Bears pound the stuffing out of the Vikes. Hester is still awesome, really awesome, and there was again another almost TD to go along with the actual TD. It amazes me how many times he gets in 1 man to beat situations and I can’t help but be shocked when he gets tackled. I was chasing a bunch of losses due to the Saints and I decided to be a complete homer and pound every bet that had the Bears in it. Then I doubled down in the second half when they posted the line as Vikes -2.5. The only bet I lost all night was a prop that had Sanzenbacher as the 1st TD scorer. Good times, good times.
I’m a little bummed that I missed the chance to bet on the Packers. That seemed like the easiest money all weekend. Though, it saved me the displeasure of having to actually root for the Packers.
I bet big on the Patriots-Cowboys game going Over. That was such a weird game. The line was 54.5 and I simply couldn’t foresee a circumstance where that game was low scoring. Just bizarre all around, neither team’s secondaries are any good and yet neither QB could get it going.
I think Jim Schwartz is a fucking punk. I understand that Harbaugh was probably a little over excited and didn’t display the decorum that’s probably expected of NFL coaches in this PR obsessed time, but Schwartz consistently acts like a complete hypocrite and fool. For a guy who demonstrates like he does to get all bent out of shape when someone else is fired up is low class. I’m starting to think that all that previous talk about Suh being a dirty punk is a direct result of the coach. Schwartz coached Haynesworth, drafted Fairley and this Lions team commits more stupid penalties than anyone else. This is going to get worse before it gets better and I suspect that Schwartz is going to flame out sometime soon, we’ll see if he drags the Lions back down with him or if the ownership is smart enough to get out before it gets too far.
This has nothing to do with football and there’s a separate thread about it I know, but that Indy car crash today was unbelievable. Very sad day. Watching the replays it’s shocking how fiery and dramatic that was. I seriously looked like something far fetched that Michael Bay would have choreographed. Holy crap.
Completely agree on all points. I’m amazed the Vikes have waited this long to get him in there considering what a garbage fire McNabb is.
Payton doesn’t coach the defense. They had no answer for Freeman. Payton wasn’t the one who threw three picks, either. Face it: your team got beat.
Well, from a Tampa perspective, your guys got their ass handed to them last week, shook it off, and came out today and beat a good football team. I wouldn’t worry about the score so much…the Bucs were as good as they needed to be.
One more thought. It seemed like after the first series that he developed some accuracy issues. Which was weird because the scouting report on him was that he was very accurate IIRC. Considering the amount of pressure he had to deal with I might not overreact to that though.
My team? Huh?
