NFL WEEK 7 RBs Leaping

Probably real life intruding but I didn’t see a Week 7 thread, so here it is!

Some things we learned: the Patriots are really that bad! The 49ers and Eagles are really good but not infallible! CJ Stroud is looking really good among this year’s crop of first round QBs!

Anyway, enough of that. Here are the games:

The Sunday night game looks intriguing for sure while WSH at NYG is currently in the lead for Pillow Fight of the Week

Might actually be a decent game tonight.

“Come join us, odds are that one of them will win!”

Trevor Lawrence is listed as questionable for tonight’s game, while Derek Carr is expected to play. Perhaps that’s why the Saints are slight favorites tonight.

Mahomes might be the punter for the Chiefs this weekend if their regular punter is still laid up with a knee injury. The biggest benefit, if this happens, is that the announcers would have some other inane topic to discuss besides TayTrav.

There’s some confusion regarding this piece of news. It was last week that Tommy Townsend (Chiefs punter) was listed as questionable with a knee injury. But he played against the Broncos and is listed as healthy for this week’s game against the Chargers.

The question was asked earlier this week who the backup punter would have been had Townsend not been able to play. And that’s when the coach answered that it was Mahomes. That’s also the reason that another punter wasn’t signed before last week’s game.

Checking in on my NFL Draft predictions.

So far I’m doing okay on my QB projections. Obviously too early to draw any solid conclusions, but I was mostly right about Richardson and Young. I seem to have undersold Stroud a bit. Levis hasn’t gotten any real time which is weird considering who is playing ahead of him. Let’s be generous and call that an incomplete.

The Bears in fact did not take a Tackle at #9. :man_facepalming: Thankfully we did stay away from Johnson.

Zay Flowers is the best WR in the class, I don’t think this is even a debate, though I guess Puka has to get a mention. The Illini are killing it. I may need to chalk that Bijan take up as a loss, though based solely on his usage that projection is still probably technically accurate. The Dope loves nothing more than being technically accurate.

Anderson is a worthy 1st round Edge, but maybe not worth trading up to #3 for. There’s still time. Tillman so far is a nothing (to the chagrin of my Dyansty team). Van Ness remains super confusing. Mayer slid all the way to the top of 2nd which was unexpected, however LaPorta taken just ahead of him is clearly the class of the class.

Johnson was overdrafted and Rice is the guy you probably want, certainly in Fantasy. Charbonnet is not showing much production, but he also doesn’t look like a total bust when on the field, so I’m prepared to take the L on this one. 5 WRs and 4 TE drafted in the first 45 picks, it was a long shot but still, this was a predictably terrible WR class. Our guy Yaya remains a delight.

Ah, so it’s “news” for the sake of clicks. Shocking!

The Dolphins have pretty conclusively established that they are better than the bottom tier of the league.

But they haven’t beaten anybody good. They got mightily spanked by the one team - Buffalo - that is expected to go far in the playoffs.

So Sunday night is huge. The team is dialed in, and everybody’s in love with Coach McDaniel*, but playing on the road in Philly is a huge undertaking. I’ll be happy if they keep it close; a win would be a surprise. I just don’t think Miami has the defensive chops to stop a top quarterback (although Jalen Ramsey’s return from injury is possibly going to be in November, ahead of schedule).

But if Miami comes in and makes a statement, then this week marks their arrival amongst Super Bowl contenders. The south Florida media has dubbed them “The greatest show on surf” - it would be fun if they lived up to the hype.

*Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is a great story. His football life starts when was 9 and living in Colorado. He used to spend his summers watching the Broncos in camp. He used to collect autographs, and figured out that players wouldn’t give him multiple signatures. So, he would wear a hat, the stash it and go back again, knowing the players wouldn’t recognize him.

One day, he couldn’t find his Charlotte Hornets hat. He asked a guy who worked for the team if it was in lost and found. The guy said no, but bought him a new hat next time he was there.

This led McDaniel to introduce the guy to his mom. This leads to the guy marrying McDaniel’s mother. This leads to McDaniel becoming a ballboy for the Broncos.

He had an in.

Then, as a young man, he’s late to a team meeting with the Texans and gets fired. This leads him to recognize his problems with alcohol, and a stint in rehab. He’s now sober.

He helped devise the offense run by the 49ers. He only ended up in Miami because they couldn’t lure Sean Payton (thank god!) and Denver didn’t even give him an interview.

He doesn’t yell or give rah-rah speeches. He’s cerebral. And funny. Incidentally, his father is black, so technically he’s a minority hire. His players can talk to him - a Lombardi mold he is not.

Instead, he’s now the boy genius coach of a record setting offense, and (as I saw posted online) “Miami has their Shula.” My favorite coach.

Wow. Amazon Prime video streaming sucks. I saw better streams 10 years ago. While watching the crappy pixelated mess that Amazon is serving up… I brought up 2 separate YouTube streams and they looked fine. Then I did a speedtest and got 180Meg download so I don’t think it’s my connection.

Looks okay for me.

I switched from the browser on my laptop to my Roku TV and it looks much better now. Guess it just didn’t like my browser. (couldn’t stream it at all in Firefox, streamed badly in Edge.

Interesting. I’m using Firefox. :man_shrugging:

I’m watching both on my Samsung Smart TV and on my laptop using Chrome. Both of the streams are just fine. However, the laptop is a good 60 seconds ahead of the TV.

He’s behind Kenneth Walker Jr so he’s not going to have a ton of opportunities as long as Walker is healthy. But he’s shown flashes of potential.

It’s far too early to tell either way. He doesn’t look like a bust but I’d say wait until the end of the season to judge him. I’ve seen lots of promising RBs who end up as nothing, especially if they get injured as a rookie and never recover (mentally more than physically).

Yeah, I haven’t been watching the games, but I have Walker on my fantasy team. Based on the scores he’s giving me, he seems to be here to kick ass and chew bubblegum and he’s all out of bubble gum.

It is remarkable that 4 of Miami’s 5 wins have come against NE, DEN, NYG & CAR. Teams with a combined record of 3-21. Tyreek Hill is looking pretty good, but the schedule makers are the real MVP.

My prediction: they’ll win the east and be the 1 or 2 seed, but will get smoked in the playoffs.

The Butterfingers candy bar should have an ad campaign where they celebrate the worst pass drops of each week.

I love the idea, I’m not sure that associating your product with failures is good advertising. Unless they frame it as something like, “You’re having a bad day, let’s cheer you up with a Butterfingers.” Then the “these guys have butterfingers” part can remain an unspoken tongue-in-cheek innuendo.

The Sunday night game looks intriguing for sure while WSH at NYG is currently in the lead for Pillow Fight of the Week

As a Washington fan, I’m officially offended. WSH ranks at least buckwheat pillow strength.
