So what is up with those Tampa Bay Bucs? Not that I pay any attention to them, but apparently their young, first round pick Talib not only blows curfew, but has the balls to go after his coach with a profanity laden tirade when confronted about it. Has that team just fallen apart? Is it the GM (who I thought was braindead for taking Talib and proved to be braindead true by taking Josh Freeman in the mid first round)? Is it Morris? Is it the city? Is it the Glazers. who seem to have a penchant for running sports teams into ruin? The Bucs had a nice little story line going into this year, but now it’s sad. They were the joke of the NFL for a good bit of time, but I thought they had turned the corner and became a respectable franchise, but now it looks like the Bengals circa anytime before this year.
Someone with some Bucs information, help me out. What the hell is going on with that team?
Talib was excellent value in the middle of the first round. Our other option was wideout, and if we’d gone wideout it would have been Devin “bust before he ever suited up for the Redskins” Thomas.
Talib is an excellent player… with some character flags. I’m guessing he was probably drunk when he went off on Raheem.
The GM who drafted Talib (Bruce Allen) wasn’t the same one who drafted Freeman, incidentally (Mark Dominik). Allen was Gruden’s patsy and was useless. Dominik is his own man, but equally useless.
Why in the hell do I only get 2 games to watch today, one at Noon and one at 3? That combined with the no night game means I hardly get any fucking footabll today. What is the love of fucking Christ is this?
Some? So far he’s allegedly got into a fight at rookie orientation, he’s hit a fellow player in the head with a helmet he swung, he’s been charged with battery of a cab driver, and he’s sworn out his coach. All in one year. Yeah, that’s “some character flaws”.
What is up with Raheem anyway. If I were an NFL coach and a player cursed me out, he’d either be off the team, or sitting on the bench for a good while. Has Morris already lost this team?
I’ve been doing this for 5 years, I’m hoping at some point everyone will have asked and we’ll be good.
Completely miserable performance from the Bears thus far once again. The offensive line is useless, Forte looks slow and the defensive front is getting pushed around. Cutler and Gould are keeping things alive, but man this game should be a 20 point game right now.
Yeah, but when he was drafted his only character issue was a positive marijuana test.
It’s a bye week, so it’s not like there’s any rush in suspending him. I’m not worried about him losing the team because half the current roster won’t be around next year anyway. The team may not believe he can lead them to victories, but then Vince Lombardi could rise from the grave and bring in Buddy Ryan and Bill Walsh as his coordinators and they’d still be winless.
The Eagles fans are singing a song that sounds like The 12 Days of Christmas (immediately after DeSean Jackson’s 54-yard TD catch). They sound like an English football crowd!
2 carries, 6 yards. I think the New York Football Miniatures see the Eagles playing with 8-9 in the box and figure only Jacobs is going to be able to run against those fronts.
As I mentioned in another thread, I didn’t grow up with football and have only been watching it for a few years. I have no clue how to guess scores. In the other thread I said that I got a miniature Vikings helmet from IHOP, so that memory makes me support the Vikings. But I also said I like the Packers. Se here’s my guess:
Vikings win.
Why? It’s all very scientific. I’ll be hoping the Packers will win. Therefore, they will lose.
Well, the Bears got the decisive win. Still not feeling great about it because the Browns are completely terrible and actually played a little worse than usual this week. Offensively they did nothing in the air and we still weren’t able to completely stop Jamal Lewis. The secondary played pretty great but they seemed to get a lot of gimmes from the Browns QBs. We ran the ball a little but nearly enough, the blocking was poor again and the play calling left a lot to be desired in the redzone. This team is going nowhere when it can’t even beat the Browns in the trenches.
Aaron Rodgers is looking a little high strung out there, even when he has time to pass. A horrible pass deep to Jennings and an overthrow two plays later. He needs to calm down a bit.
At least he hasn’t been sacked yet, unless you count that botched handoff.
