I watched NFL Today on CBS and absolutely loved the trick-or-treat sketch. I’m lucky enough to get two CBS games, so I’m recording SF v Den for later and watching Jax@Dal. The two games I’m really looking forward to, though, are Min@NE and Hou@Ind (we demand revenge!).
Rodgers forcing the ball to a gimped Driver for no reason.
Dallas making David Garrard look like Donovan McNabb c. 2004.
Dallas doesn’t deserve to be a 6.5 favorite over anyone, let alone a 4? win team.
The blatantly fixed officiating in favor of the Packers is becoming ridiculous.
Totally. Not like the Packers have been penalized 47 times, or 7th most in the league, or anything.
ETA: Detroit, don’t try to score from your own 30 with 43 seconds left and an all-but-rookie quarterback.
EETA: Is it hard to kick in the new NY stadium?
Ugh. Packers have the ball around their 40, 8 seconds left, 2 timeouts. They take a timeout, so you think they’re going to set up a pass play to try and get themselves into FG range. Nope, they take a knee to get to halftime.
I HATE that. Is it really THAT risky to try to make a play to give yourself a chance to score? Such chickenshit coaching.
Also, I feel obliged to offer my annual apology to England for giving them another subpar NFL game. If the NFL was serious about promoting the game, they’d give London a game that’s assured to be meaningful (like Pittsburgh/New Orleans), but they never do.
From the NFL’s point of view, giving London shitty games works out just fine, because they sell out no matter what. At least they’re getting to see Kyle Orton air it out a bit.
The talking heads keep saying Dallas can’t fire Wade Phillips because he’s the defensive coordinator as well as the head coach.
I fail to see how that is a problem.
CBS just cut from the JAX@DAL game w/ nearly 6min left to BUF@KC. If I didn’t hate the Cowboys, I’d feel really sorry for them.
Hate when that works.
Hot damn! Packers defense pitches a shutout, Capers and McCarthy outcoach Ryan, and the Packers get a huge victory on the road against a good team. Capers had a great gameplan, and, for reasons only known to the JETS, they relied on Sanchez rather than their running game to try and score. Rodgers had another subpar game, although Driver, Jones, and Quarless didn’t help him any with big drops.
But it was the defense that made this game. Kudos!
Isn’t overtime supposed to be commercial free?
Lions just doubled their win total at the expense of the Skins.
Rooting for those damn Vikings now… I want to see Tavaris J kick up the qb controversy in Minnesota…
Yeah but you need to throw a game ball in for the Jets receivers… Sanchez had about 6-8 drops today… Crochety or whatever his fucking name is needs to have his paycheck docked…
Do I dare declare the Raiders as back from virtual oblivion, after a string of 7 horrendous seasons where they never won more than 5 games? They’ve now reached the .500 mark after their second straight massacre, this week of a pretty good Seattle team, 33-3, 545 to 162 in yards. I’ve been rooting for them since the mid-70’s, but when the Jags set up shop I’ve mostly been following them (tho don’t mention the words “tuck rule” in my presence). Usually only good teams blow people out by a combined score of 92 to 17.
Ah, Derek Anderson. A field goal to tie, and he throws a pick in the red zone. Who would have thought. Except everyone who has seen him play.
Yeah, I do think that was a significant factor. The Jets offense kept reminding me of the Packers offense of recent weeks – unable to put together more than 2 or 3 good plays in a drive.
