One kneel away from the Rams first win and it comes against the Saints?!?! Never would have thought that would happen!
I think the pros should adopt the college game rule of stopping the clock when a team makes a first down.
Same old Cardinals.
Just watched the Vikings beat the South Carolina Kitty Cats.
Now we’re Seattle vs. the Cincinnati Stripy Cats.
Saints lose 31-21, and it really wasn’t that close. Brees got his TD pass in the closing seconds to keep his streak alive, but that was about the only bright spot today. Saints O-line got their asses handed to them. Chris Long was a beast, and so was James Laurinaitis (son of Road Warrior Animal).
I am shocked at the Rams game. I would have ranked this game as the hardest the Rams would have on thier schedule. With the remainder of thier games, they could go 8-8 if they keep this level of play. The toughest two they have left are the Steelers in week 16 and the 49ers twice.
I almost remember what getting a first down feels like.
DC sports talk radio will be unlistenable this week after the Skins shitty outing. These stations around here shit all over the hometown team every time they don’t score 40+ points in a game let alone when they get killed.
Even though Rex Grossman sucks they should have just ridden him out seeing as they were above 500 before they switched to Beck. Hard to believe they thought Beck was the answer.
I think they should have started Beck at the beginning of the season. They knew what they had with Grossman, may as well find out what Beck had. Now what do they do, go back to Grossman after giving him the vote of no confidence by pulling him after the season started?
Lions are whipping Tim Elbow and the Broncos 45 to 3.
Catches for first downs by 49ers’ lineman Joe Staley and nose tackle/fullback Isaac Sopoaga in this game. Whatever works, but it is fun to watch.
What would starting Beck have done? They would probably be oh-fer now. I’m not saying that Rex is a field general or anything but at least the offense was able to make something happen with him in there. Beck lost out in the preseason. It just makes no sense to bench your starting quarterback when you are 3-2 and you are having your best start to the season in years. Even if it’s Rex Grossman.
Not bad, but from a bettor’s perspective, the Browns did not beat the spread. Although you’d get your money back, you’d have lost a dollar per unit bet.
I think it would have been useful to see if Beck could manage to perform in real games. If not, bring Grossman in to finish off the season so they can go and look for a real QB in the offseason. I don’t think anyone seriously thought the Redskins had a chance to contend for the playoffs this year. I think the worst thing that could have happened to their fanbase was for them to start to get hopeful after that 3-1 start. Prior to the season starting, I think they had actually accepted this as a rebuilding year, now they’ve gotten their hopes up, just to have them destroyed again.
Painful. That was a big lead they blew. Those kinds of wins against a supposedly good team aren’t easy to come by. Not that I mind Whisenhunt taking a loss, but damn, it’s tough on the fans.
It was tough on the non-fans, too. I thought they had it locked up. How they choked that one away I’ll never know, but that game would have opened up the AFC North. Oh, well. Looks like Pittsburgh will have to do it on their own next Sunday.
You are talking about the same team that lost 62-7 last week and used TWO quarterbacks for a combined whopping 22 passing attempts. I felt the same way as you, only in reverse. How in the hell do you not start throwing the ball like mad with receivers like Garcon and Wayne no matter who the QB is when you are losing by more than 40 points in a game?
No, not really you don’t. You crave the return of Butch Davis…admit it!
The 49ers defense is straight up legit. They have a lot of talent. Alex Smith actually being presentable once and awhile is the bigger surprise to me.
Perhaps not next Sunday, but the Sunday after at PBS?
I’d take Butch Davis in a second, so long as he didn’t try to handle personel decisions. He’s always been a pretty good coach, just bad at being a GM - and he tends to treat pros like college kids with stupid rules and stuff. But in general he overachieved signfiicantly as a coach - although part of that overachieving was necesary due to his ineptitude at managing the roster.
As it is, I’ve been reduced to fantasies of Holmgren getting fed up midgame, coming down from the booth, bodyslamming Shurmur and taking the headset himself.
Even when things are going great, you can always count on the refs coming in and calling something completely inexplicable. Something that not even a single other person on the planet would have called, and always against the Eagles. What a joke.
