NFL Week 8

Double win for Buffalo. The Bills won and the Patriots lost.

You amuse me.

So who is everyone’s candidates for ROY so far? I’m going to have to be a homer and say AJ Green…dude is just lights out.

Defensively, the 49ers’ Aldon Smith has 6½ sacks and has a four-game sack streak going.

And on offense?

Certainly a strong candidate. Von Miller is probably the leader in the clubhouse for Def-ROY. I suspect Cam Newton will get the Off-ROY but if he doesn’t get any wins for all those stats it’s going to open the door for someone like Green, Dalton or a late blooming RB to slip in.

Pro football focus rookie of the year has Von Miller on top at the moment, with Jabaal Sheard (who’s been quietly pretty good especially against the run) in second.

I was at the Panthers - Vikings game yesterday. Typical 2011 Panthers game. The offense does enough to win, but the defense and special teams are just atrocious. Cam completed a beautiful 4th and 15 to keep the final drive alive. They had a their chance to force OT and Mare misses a chip shot. That was a tough walk down the ramp. Ponder looked decent even though he over-threw his receivers a lot. He looked pretty poised most of the time. They killed the Panthers over the middle. Linebacker play is hurting without Beason out there.

Oh, bullcrap. Don’t turn into a freaking Raiders fan.

+1. This morning I started yelling at Mike and Mike on the radio because Golic said “technically the Bills are on top of the AFC East.” Technically? The tiebreaker is not a technicality.

Flea flickers for 3 yards are the best kind.

Is there something wrong with Ryan Mathews?

Edit: Just as I ask that, they say he’s on the sideline without his helmet.

Well that was unexpected.

No shit.

And to think I almost didn’t watch this game.

two turnovers in the last two minutes.

Looks like OT

Wow. Rivers channeling Tony Romo against Seattle from years ago with that one. Excellent camera work…his left hand came up too soon. Then they win the toss in overtime, and he fumbles again…but manages to recover so they can punt, at least. Chiefs drive it down for the game winning FG.

Wild game, but fun–especially since I did not care who won.

Some of my favorite plays in football are those that throw some egg on the announcer’s faces. Watching the MNF game near the end of regulation, they’re talking about “Superstar” Philip Rivers and how he’s one of the elite QB’s of the game, leading the Chargers on yet another fourth quarter come-from-behind victory… only to have Rivers fumble the snap.

Oops.

Now Rivers is a fine QB, no doubt about it, and I’m sorry for his sake that the Chargers lost that way, but damn it was sweet seeing the ESPN guys get shut up like that.

Dammit, I keep hoping the Chargers will pull one off, and they keep failing me. Sigh

Yeah, they beat the Patriots in Week 3 because technically 34 is a higher score than 31.
