NFL Week 9: Colts vs Pats, and some other teams might play too

What a night – watching my most hated team bungle play after play, acting like the 11 Stooges on the field, and I couldn’t even fricking enjoy it.

How ironic – it took a loss for my hatred for the Eagles to reach it’s highest level of all time.

In other news, that Peterson kid is pretty good.

Actually, he’s amazing. The most amazing thing about him is that he is the entire Minnesota offense. The other defensive coordinator can gameplan to do nothing but stop Peterson, and yet in that situation, he still has biggest game EVER in the entire nfl history.

He’s got a pretty good drive blocking line, but it seems like they’re relatively slow… he’s not getting that many 2nd and 3rd level blocks from his o-line. They’re doing a good job springing him to the second level, but once he gets there he’s mostly on his own, and he’s creating space for himself.

For the record, predraft, I was firmly in the Peterson camp. I thought he’d be good, but not even this good. However, the Browns didn’t make a horrible gaffe with their draft pick - thus far, Joe Thomas has exceeded my (what were fairly low) expectations and is looking really good. I’d still want Peterson, but Joe is looking great for a rookie too. He appeared to outperform Walter Jones yesterday, although I have to review the game.

I would’ve liked to have seen them let Peterson stay out there instead of yanking him for Taylor. He wasn’t hurt or anything, so why not let him go for 300+? He would’ve easily gotten the touchdown that Taylor got, and more on the next drive.

Why not let him go for 300? Because if you’re Brad Childress, there’s really only one headline that will send you to the breadlines after this season, and it goes as follows:

Peterson Tears ACL on Meaningless Carry in Blowout Win

Yeah, seriously. Haven’t you seen Friday Night Lights?

So… a week that had a fistful of amazing games on Sundays now has… perhaps the most lopsided game I’ve seen in ages.

This isn’t even like the Pats-Redskins game last week, or that Bills-Colts game I went to back in '92, where one team has just ridiculously outclassed the other. It looks like one of those high school games between Private Football Factory vs. Arts Magnet Academy.

So, the Lions look like they can get 10 wins going here.

Not the most ideal outcome, as Pittsrbugh won. However, the rats got embarassed, and thanks to Santonio Holmes and the Pittsburgh defense, unless there’s something I’m missing, I just won $650. Whee.

It’s strange. When the Tigers came on last year, all the bandwagoners came out of the woodwork. Not so with the Lions, though. Not yet, anyway. It’s like the fans are handling this Lions team much more cautiously. Maybe after a few more wins. I’m just glad to get some decent games on TV over here.

I doubt Baltimore is really as bad as they played tonight. Not that I think they’re very good, but that was just a horrendous night. Unfortunately for them, no matter how anomalous tonight’s performance was, their remaining schedule means they won’t even be sniffing the playoffs this year.

Well they were starting two guys at corner who couldn’t beat out Samarri Rolle.

If those corners are still out in 2 weeks, Anderson->Edwards will have 5+ TDs.
