NFL Week 9

I realize that this link is to a sport other than football, but THIS is the scummiest thing I’ve ever seen on the field.

Bengals are going to take the superbowl no problem

The Bungles aren’t going to the Super Bowl, even if they buy tickets.

Unless you have a shot at a can’t-miss prospect, aim for a journeyman either via trade or free agency.

Even the Jets are in much better shape at the QB position than the Browns. How hard is it to sign a Fitzpatrick level guy?

Apparently Vegas raked it in this week as 80% of bets were on GB, Atlanta and Denver to win and cover. That really surprises me because those were all road teams. As I said in the OP, your money should have been on NYJ, who did end up beating JAX.

Pfft, even if they have the #1 overall pick, you expect them to make good use of it? Who’s even the top QB prospect anyway? Goff? Lynch at Memphis? Connor Cook doesn’t get me excited.

I have seen 2016 Mocks that have all three of those QB’s going in the Top 10. Never underestimate the power of a desperate front office.

Yes, I think those are the consensus top 3 QBs for now. Cardale Jones has fallen from grace. Looks to me like a weak QB draft.

Well, at least I didn’t have to watch the Lions lose this week!

Pats lose Dion Lewis for the season to a torn ACL, no word yet on Vollmer. I have more confidence in the defense now vs the offense, but they keep managing to patch together an O line that works.

1 more win and the Panthers will have 1 season in a row with a winning record, tying our longest streak ever! Back to back division wins, and the Panthers have still never recorded back to back winning seasons.

With Brady averaging about 2.1 seconds from snap to throw (lowest in the NFL), it may not matter much.

Well, it’s a poke in the eye that’ll cost Talib a week.

What a stooge.

I like the cut of this guy’s jib!

Welcome fellow Bengals fan! That makes two of us now.

I’m getting really, really comfortable with Jameis as a long term prospect. He looks kind of awkward a lot of the time (especially when he’s running with the ball) but has been reliably productive despite a work-in-progress line and missing at least two of his top four receivers in every game since Week 2.

Mike & Mike had a stat the other day: something along the lines of the Browns’ last 5 first rounders combining for 20 starts.

I hate that the message that Jeff Fisher is a shithead whose teams consistently rank in the top 5 of penalties (including personal fouls, unnecessary roughness, and other “dirty” penalties) was emphasized by King of the Dirty Players Rodney Harrison. It lets Mediocre Coach who Inexplicably Continues to Be Hired and is a Complete Fucking Douchebag change the narrative from what a fuckwit Fisher is and how cheap his teams play to one of pointing out Harrison’s obvious hypocrisy.

Man, that’s harsh. Fisher is a GREAT coach and his players love to do dirty deeds done dirt cheap for him. What’s wrong with you? Are you a Steelers fan admiring their malfeasance from afar?

Bad news for the Colts as Andrew Luck is out anywhere from 2-6 weeks with a lacerated kidney and abdominal injuries. Luckily, Indy has a bye this week, so it’s possible that he’ll only miss 1 game.

McCown’s battered and broken body is going to be dragged on the field to prevent Manziel from starting. Why would a 2-7 team want to try out their unproven and unknown first round quarterback when they could possibly squeak out an extra meaningless win with a 36 year old guy? You definitely don’t want to find out if your top 3 pick is something you should spend on a quarterback or not.

What a fucking joke.

They know what they have in Manziel: a physically gifted athlete who isn’t ready to play the position of NFL QB. They could, to appease their fan base, trot his ass out there and let him run around and throw his “sure hope they catch that one” throws, make a few “Wow!” fun plays, wait for him to get injured, and lose a bunch of games. But if they’re interested in actually developing him as a NFL QB, and not the college QB he still is, they’ll sit his ass until he can run a big boy NFL offense. Which may be never. But if they don’t want to lose the rest of the team to appease the style of play of a kid who hasn’t wrapped his brain around how to play NFL QB, they’ll sit him until he learns.

He’s had a year and a half to pick up the game and some starting experience too. He’s behind a competent O-line. Waiting until year three to get your QB some starting experience went out of fashion a few decades ago.

You make it sound like he’s some WR convert experiment at the NFL level. He’s a Heisman-winning QB who has had a year and a half to sit and develop. He hasn’t looked lost in his chances at playing this year.

If he can’t hack starting half a season to see what he’s got / start to develop, then they should just junk the guy and get a new QB anyway. And if they’re doing that, why not start him for the rest of the year?

No, Pettine clearly has a grudge against Manziel, and besides that, he thinks McCown has more of a chance to squeeze him out an extra win or two this year, which he desperately hopes will save his job. He’s not acting in the long term interest of the franchise, he’s just trying to stave off being fired a little longer.
