NFL Wild-Card Weekend

I must be blind because I’ve seen the play 15 times and haven’t a clue what you’re referring to. The only thing close was one of the Packers hand glancing across a Cardinals lineman’s facemask as the return was happening.

The face mask was a Cardinals guy on Rodgers after he fumbled. It was marginal so maybe the ref saw it and let it go, more likely they never saw it , they were watching the ball.

They don’t have the incidental face mask penalty anymore.

There isn’t any incidental facemask penalty anymore. They got rid of it a couple of years ago. If there’s no grabbing and pulling, there’s no penalty.

Way to blame the officials for a loss, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

With that ball bouncing off Rodgers’ foot, that ending was more Immaculate Reception than Tuck Rule.

Regardless of the outcome, how awful is the Cardinals’ fan base? I mean, Rodgers was pumping up the crowd on the sidelines… successfully. At one point, when the camera was unfortunately on Aikman and Buck, you could hear a rather loud, “Go! Pack! Go!” chant in the background.

I remember at one point thinking “this game is in Arizona, right?”

Kurt Warner may have just turned in the single greatest post-season performance by a Quarterback in the history of the NFL.

C/ATT	YDS	AVG	TD	INT	RATING
K. Warner	29/33	379	11.5	5	0	154.1

Versus the regular season’s #2 overall defense and the #5 passing defense by total yards, #6 passing defense by yards per attempt, #4 defense by passer rating and #2 defense by completion percentage.

Granted Green Bay didn’t exactly come out sharp on defense and it was perhaps the single worst gameplan ever devised, but history will not remember that and frankly it’s patently obvious and the same could be said of any other passing performance in the discussion.

I have no clue what the Packers were doing in the middle of the pitch. They couldn’t stop any pass over the middle, hardly. They were totally confused about who was supposed to defend whom.

Please cut out the insulting remarks. Everyone is still called upon to behave here with decorum, despite the fact that the subject matter is football playoffs.

After watching the Wild Card Weekend games, which Bye-week Team should be the most scared?

Saints vs. Cardinals
Vikings vs. Cowboys
Colts vs. Ravens
Chargers vs. Jets

I think the Chargers have clearly the safest matchup with a rookie QB coming to their house, but the Jets were pretty tough on D. The rest are all going to be tight spreads and I wouldn’t be shocked to see either of the NFC Home teams coming in as underdogs.

I’m not so sure the Saints are all that safe.

Maybe the Vikings because Dallas is hot, but I can’t imagine the Saints would be underdogs. They’ve got as prolific an offense as Arizona, but an actual defense too. Of course, I thought the Packers had an actual defense too, but they failed to show at all.

Pretty awful, but that’s no surprise. Cardinals fans are outnumbered by Dallas fans here in Arizona, I’m sure of it. Unless Dallas is bad, in which case there isn’t an NFL jersey to be found, so nobody knows.

But (dis)honorable mention goes to the Dallas crowd which had to be prompted by the PA guy* four times* to keep the “good bye” chant going at the end of their playoff game yesterday. I’m not bitter or anything.

Another question about records: what’s the highest score by the losing team in an NFL game? Does 45 take it, or is there an NFL team that scored more points than that, but lost anyway?

Hey, that “psycho” defense held the Cards to only 51 points, and I think they even forced a punt once or twice.

The Bengals put up 45 and lost to the Browns in week 2 of 2007, so it’s at least tied. IIRC it’s the third highest scoring game in NFL history - same score as today, 51-45.

I think the Saints are the most likely to be underdogs excepting the Chargers. No playoff team finished worse than they did and no team looked more beatable in the NFC. The situation gets even worse when you factor in the argument that the Cards have been the best road team in the playoffs.

Every time you try to talk football, you only bring more and more attention to your ignorance about the game. It’s almost comical.

Now, now, he’s not ignorant. His opinions are biased. Different flaw.
