NHL - 2024 Regular Season

Red Wings sucking the past two games, really just want a playoff run this year. Come on, guys, you were supposed to be better.

Ovechkin scores a hat trick in Vegas last night. Now tied for the league lead with 13 goals, and just 28 goals away from tying Gretzky.

Columbus Blue Jackets 3-Boston Bruins 0 at the end of the first period.

Bruins make a coaching change.

This Blue Jackets v Lightning game is crazy. Was tied up 3-3 when I went to post this but Tampa Bay just scored to make 4-3.

I must be getting old or something. Just looked over the Blue Jackets roster, and JVR was the only name I recognized. And Sean Monohan, former Calgary Flame.
heh

Damn, thank you for the heads up. It ended up 7-6 in OT.

You can repeat this every few days. They lost again last night, with the Red Wings scoring two in the last 5 minutes to win. The Isles have given up more goals in the third than in the other two periods combined. Maybe they should just automatically switch goalies after two periods to shake things up.

As a long time Islander fan, I can’t even.

According to Locked on Islanders podcast, the Isles have blown a 1 goal lead 7 times this season in the 3rd period.

It seems like the coaches could do something about that, maybe cocaine during the second intermission or something. It’s so hard to watch. It’s like watching the Giants during the Manning era – how will he throw the game away this week?

Oh I’m sure Lou would be perfectly fine with that.

Always thought he had the ULTIMATE face for clown make-up.

Meanwhile the Oilers are firing on zero cylinders. Poor defense, goaltending, special teams. Ham-handed around the net. There are several 40 and 50 goal scorers, who this year, will be lucky to get to 15.

OMG, he really does have a clown face! Or, Mr. Magoo.

Not much to add at the moment but excited that I’m heading down to LA here in a bit to see my beloved Kraken play the Kings. 1 pm start time! I won’t even be tired when it’s over!

Stars got a nice win in Tampa tonight. It was a strong finish after a slow start.

I must say that watching games from Tampa is a joy. They have, IMO, the gold standard for camera angles and placement.

Yep! But man, that is the refrain of the Stars for years. Most games start with them being kinda sluggish and out matched. If we come out fast in the first, it’s a surprise. Over the second and the third is when they usually shine. Maybe they have more stamina than most teams? Perhaps they wear their opponents down somehow? I dunno, I can’t explain it, but it seems to be a long running trend.

But, I’m certainly not complaining. I like games where I can think either team can win it down to the wire. Anything else is sort of boring, and a team coming from behind to win is my favorite. If it’s the Stars coming from a deficit to win, even better!

The New York Islanders simply seem determined to choke away any lead.

Has anyone been to a game in Las Vegas? Thinking of seeing the Knights v Blues in January. It’ll be just me, any particular areas of the arena to consider for a seat?

Yup, over and over again. At least they held on against the Sabres.
