NHL - 2024 Regular Season

You’ve been warned.

My goodness - article doesn’t bother to explain why Trouba is to be jettisoned from the Broadway Blueshirts “by any means necessary” (whoa!). Still an interesting read, though.

Cool if any Rangers fans can elucidate further on why the Rangers don’t want him (the captain!) anymore.

ETA: JT Miller is on a current leave of absence from the Canucks for some sort of “re-set”. Hearing buzz that the former Ranger might become one again. (heh, maybe a one-for-one with Trouba?)

Hilarious!
Sens back-up goalie gets injured, so the back-up to the back-up runs to arena with his gear. Bet he was good and warmed up when he hit the ice.

(He figurd he’d get there quicker with all the backed-up traffic, HA!, with the Canaidan Tire Centre teasingly in the background.)

It kills me every time the Stars lose to the Leafs. And last night was one of those games where Otter just laid a turd.

Hey, it feels better than the loss to the Predators did.

Ovechkin scores #869 in his return from a broken fibula. Empty netter, but those still count.

I live in Chicago, I live near Wrigley Field. I just now learned that the Winter Classic is on Tuesday rather than Wednesday. That’s how little buzz there is about it.

870 in yesterday’s game.

It is very exciting to see Ovechkin back on track. It is record I did not think that I would see broken, but I have no doubt it is going to happen in 2025, whether this season or next.

Alas poor Canada. A shitty finish at the world juniors for the second strait year, including a loss to Latvia. I’m not convinced that Canada is going to perform well in the Four Nations Cup either. Other countries are catching up, and Canada is falling behind in developing goaltenders.

Latvia game especially hurt.

Oi - I do believe the Canucks are again, for the gazillionth time, having me question my allegiance after losing 8 of their last ten. In this NHL climate that kind of thing can spell doom for a play-off spot. Pretty sure when looking back, at the end of the season, that this was their death knell.
crummy depressing el-crapo
again

Well, they are only a point or so out of a wildcard spot. Could be far worse, could be Chicago.

Oddly enough, my wife asked me about the worst Stars season I could think of yesterday. I couldn’t think of a specific year, but I remember the late noughties and most of the twenty-teens being kind of bleak.

Does anyone think that there would be enough interest for an Ovechkin record watch/pool thread?

He just set the record for most goalies scored on.

We can have pools to guess -
A: When will he tie Gretzky at 894 goals?
B: When will he pass Gretzky with 895 goals?
C: When will he score his 900th goal?
D: How many goals will he have when he finally retires?

If only I could be reassured by that. Something to cling to, for sure, but not where my money would be, ultimately.

Sure. I got thoughts.
(Believe it or not.)

Nah, I wouldn’t even put money on the Stars making a wildcard spot, myself. It’s a damn competitive league this year. Exciting, for sure. There’s very little that seems guaranteed.

Heheh, only if I can bitch about both of them.

I guess I’m a little clued out what you’re negating.

In their most recent game Van. almost blew a 3-0 lead but mananged to cling on to a 3-2 win over the Oilers. Main goalie Thatcher Demko still needs to log in more ice time after what I called his forever-injury.

I’m basically just saying “Nah, I wouldn’t bet on any particular team making the playoffs except the top spot in each division.” We’re only at the half way mark, after all. Plenty of time for any team to crater.

Sure, good points.
Wow those Preds - with that roster - scratching my head as to where they currently are in the standings.

Logan Thompson with a six year deal. Lotta time for a goalie who hasn’t really stood on his head for his career.

Damn, Ryan Hartman is a piece of shit.
