I hope that Carolina wear the throwback Whalers jersey for one of their home games.
That would totally fucking rock!
The Whalers jersey was beautiful, sorta like the old Colorado Rockies one.
Or the Victoria Salsa (BCHL)
Damn. The Stars are lucky to have gotten the tying goal so quickly after the Blues scored. The game has been ‘next goal wins’ since then.
Stars had better not let me down for the 20th year in a row…
This is quite a fight!
This is fucking WILD!
How do you think Blues fans feel, dude?
ETA: Congratulations Blues!!!
that’s rough (I like Ben Bishop) but the Blues were on my pre-season “teams to bet on in the post-season this year” list so….
And that’s the way it is…
Excellent series, St. Louis! I will root for you for the remainder. You fuckers better win the cup!
Hey, at this point it actually means MORE to me that they break their drought. You guys were the big, hard version of Nashville. Oh baby.
Go Blues!!!
ETA: Yes, if I were mature, I’d have said “difficult” or “well rounded”.
I’m going for the Canes in the East, but if the Blues make it to the finals, I’ll root for them – they’re the oldest team in the League that’s never won the Cup. That’s gotta sting.
Fair enough, but that doesn’t fully account for the dynamics of NHL expansion. When the Blues joined the league in 1967, post-expansion, they had to contend with a total of 12 teams. The Leafs last won the Stanley Cup earlier that same year just before expansion, when the entire league was just six teams. And they are a founding member of the NHL, going back to its origins in 1917 as the NHA. So really, if your objective is to root for the most pathetic losers with the longest legacy, sting-wise, consider the Leafs! Of course you can’t really root for them since they haven’t gotten past the first round in recent memory, and spend a good many post-seasons out of the playoffs altogether. On the upside of this, they’re really good at golf!
I’m a Stars fan but have to say it’s no shame in losing to the Blues…in game 7…in double overtime. And any team that can be last in the league in January and come back to be in the conference finals deserves a lot of respect.
However,
Shit.
I had bought tickets over the weekend for “Endgame” on Tuesday night, then after the Blues won on Sunday (which I did not expect!) I was bummed that I was going to miss Game 7. Got home from the movie, flipped around on the TV to check the final score, and discovered that the game was still going on, in OT. Wow, what a way to end a series. Go Blues!
As a Stars fan my heart is broken but there is no doubt that St. Louis was the better team last night.
ETA: Bishop had a great game.
Bishop has been * phenomenal* in the entire series. That’s one reason I was so sure St Louis was doomed in Game 6 in Dallas. One of the reasons the Blues consistently tank in the playoffs is they seem to run into goalies who are just freaking unstoppable.
Guin, scabpicker and others.
You have NOT idea how hard it has been to be a Blues Fan.
I came into the game late. I was in the Pittsburgh area in '67 (i was 7) and my neighbors were very into Penguins hockey. I watched a few games with them until we moved in '74. So i had a cursory knowledge of the game, but that forward was it at best.
Fast forward to '87 when I married a gal (ex now)with 4 brothers that played hockey. She took me to my first NHL game in the old “Checker-dome/Arena” The Arena was a REAL barn, it was built to host the National Dairy Show. We attended many games at the Arena. She and I had two boys together. Both kids started playing hockey at age 4 and 5 for the Granite City Steelers, kinda ironic given my initial exposure.
After our divorce a great Dad/sons activity was attending Blues games. I worked as a chef and a big food vendor perk at the time were Sports tickets, I got tons of good tickets and i absolutely fell in love with the game…been “die hard” since about about '94.
I don’t get to got to as many games nowadays as I would like but with the state of modern day TV coverage and a 50’’ 4k TV, I feel like I have an “on the glass” seat to every game. My older son did surprise me with about 8-9 sets of tickets so far this year including a Jets playoff game. We tried for last nights game but to no avail.
tl:dr Been a blues fan for 33 years, I hope this is the year we lose the title “The Cubs of Hockey” (but hey…cubs eventually won, i just hope it does not take so long.
LETS GO BLUES
Yes. Yes I do.
Well, I suppose if you really want to get technical. But I don’t think most fans are going to analyse it that closely.
Sharks are still swimming!
The Avs gave it all they had. They gave the Sharks plenty. That young team will be heard from again.
Go Sharks!
