NHL April+Playoffs.

Who would have thought that Marion Gaborik, who is by reputation a soft, injury prone euro, would fit in so well on a Darryl Sutter coached team? And lead the playoffs in scoring?

Very classy of the Kings to stay on the ice and bang the sticks for Teemu. I’ll miss him.

So who’s the picks for the East/West championships? I’m still going with Kings and Habs. I’m sure all of Canada is rooting for the Habs, eh, Leaffan? Come on, it’s been years!

It’s tough. I’m completely schizophrenic about the Habs. I am happy when they win and I am jealous when they win. I hated them in the 1970s because they were so good. When they started being mortal and signed as many international players as any other team I relaxed my hatred and started to like them a bit. But it’s still tough knowing that Toronto can’t come close to their legacy ever again.

ETA: Yeah, I’m petty and emotional about it all. It’s not something I have rational control over. I’m pretty sure most sports fans have a similar story.

My teams are the Blackhawks and the Kings. Who shall I root for? I guess I will root for seven overtime games.

[del]Vinnegault[/del] [del]Vingeout[/del] [del]Vigneout[/del] Vinny seems to think so.

I think the Rangers match up well against them. The regular season series was an effective defensive stalemate, so they have a fighting chance, but they’re certainly not likely to win without scoring from the top line. They’ll still need to roll four lines and continue to get contributions from them all, but the Rick Nash watch is on. I’m hoping that Kreider has enough game time back under his belt to be a factor, using his speed and strength to free up some space for Nash to work in.

The wild card factor is goal tending. Each game in the regular season was won by shutout (2-0 Habs in NY, 1-0 Rangers, 1-0OT Habs both in Montreal), with the Rangers having a large edge in shots on goal in the latter two. However, Cam Talbot started both games in the Bell Centre. So the question is: Can Lundqvist silence The Bell?

Should be (circle one) exhilarating/infuriating.

Am I going to have to listen to Joe Micheletti on all the Kings/Hawks games? Aaaaagh. Kenny Albert and Brian Engblom are bad enough but Micheletti is horrible. Never stops talking. Am I the only one who dislikes this broadcast team?

Missed the Hawks game - anyone know where I can watch highlights online?

As a Kings fan, I didn’t like the result of the game, but I have a ton of respect for the Hawks and I am far more accepting of losses to them than other teams. Not sure why, though.

Carey Price is injured for the rest of the Eastern Conference Finals. That’s a real shame. I’ve been cheering against this year, but no team deserves to go out like this.

Who do you think will be in the finals. I am rooting on Chicago. I personally would like to see an original 6 in their, but a west coast team like the kings would be interesting. I mean it did take them 45 years to get their first cup.

100 agree. Let’s hope Budaj shines; it’s happened before.

The Ryan Miller experiment in St. Louis appears to be over as the Blues sign Brian Elliot to a 3 year extension. Miller hasn’t been a stud goalie for the past couple years. But he could be an upgrade in Winnipeg or Vancouver.

I don’t get this at all. Miller is a stud goaltender and Elliot’s just a glorified back-up. Unless they think that they can better improve their team by spending money elsewhere?

It’s a really puzzling move IMO and just a knee-jerk reaction to going out in the first round (to a team that looks to stand a very good chance at repeating as champions, I might add).

This is going to sound like sarcasm, coming from a B’s fan, but this totally sucks, both for the Habs and especially Price. He’s been playing his butt off

And it’s going to be rookie Dustin Tokarski in net.

I predict this will not end well.

That really sucks for Price. The Rangers just got an extra 5 or 6 goals with him out of net. Lets hope they already used them in game one.

I missed the replays on this. Was it a clean hit on Price?

There didn’t appear to be any malicious intent. No penalty was called. NY player Kreider driving to the net with the puck, knocked off balance crashes onto the net.

Could he have done a better job avoiding Price? Perhaps, but it wasn’t reckless, IMO.

I’m rooting for whoever wins in the East. Yes, even if it’s NY. Neither team has won in about twenty years.
(I’m actually a fan of the 1970s Habs. Ken Dryden is one of my all time favorites)

Well, the Habs have used 3 goalies in 2 games, and so far the empty net has the best goals against average.

Shit!

OT.
