Gambling has made sports a lot less interesting to watch on television or via a stream. I’m definitely not opposed to gambling, I’ve started several casino threads on here. It’s very similar to fantasy sports, I do play and enjoy fantasy sports but I hate when I am bombarded with fantasy shit when I’m trying to enjoy a game.
Gambling has just about ruined every USA sports podcast. I don’t give a fuck about who has the over
Very sad. Bossy was such a consistent goal scorer his entire playing career. 50 - 60 plus goals in 9 straight seasons and 100 plus points in 7 out of 10 seasons (in the 90s for 2 of the 3 that he missed). He was lucky enough to have had wonderful chemistry with Trottier and they both benefited from it. He was also lucky enough to be part of the juggernaut Islanders dynasty.
I wonder what kind of numbers he could have ended up with if his bad back hadn’t forced an early retirement?
I love that the West is still kind of wide open with about 7 games left for most of the teams. At this point Edmonton, #2 in the Pacific, could theoretically not make the playoffs. As a Stars fan, who’s used to having “Well, at least it’s not mathematically impossible for us to make the playoffs.” often being my main comfort at this time of year - dang, pretty great season.
But educate me, how has hockey sold out to gambling interests? Is it just how it’s presented in podcasts, or has there been a verifiable effect on the game?
It seems that every other commercial during a hockey game is for a gambling website or app. The pregame show for Leafs games have added a segment about the lines and betting. I have no interest in betting on sports like that and the information provided is of no use to me. I just have had enough.
That was one hell of a great game between the Caps and Avalanche. I definitely think the Stanley Cup winner is coming out of the West and it could be this Avalanche team.
Would never have thought of the American southeast becoming Murder’s Row - with the two Florida teams and Carolina usually the next stop. California was like that (but bigger and meaner) from about 2007-2013. I recall Death Valley references for the latter.
