I think the NHL blew it on the Dallas-Columbus call. They added one more road trip to an already long season. Once Dallas asks the question, Columbus has to agree or look like jerks. Dallas shouldn’t be allowed to even ask in that situation. Security (after the Boston Marathon bombing) or weather should be the only factors to allow a game to be postponed.
The Peverley thing reminded me of Jiri Fischer, which was kind of depressing. He really looked like he was developing into a good player, then suddenly career over, but at least only the career was over.
I hope Peverley doesn’t have to retire because of it too.
Kris Letang is back to practicing after his stroke, but no word on when he’ll be back. (Personally, I doubt it’ll be this season)
Son of a Bitch!! How many injuries are the Wings going to have during the crunch run? Ericson now to!! They are even starting to run out of Griffens to call up, soon they are going to be recruiting from the stands.
The Boston Bruins have won 10 in a row, and lead the Eastern Conference and trail the St. Louis Blues by just 2 points for best-overall in the league. Rask has been outstanding in goal since the Olympic break, and the Bruins are showing incredible 4-line depth.
The only turd in the punchbowl is that the near-indispensable defenseman, Dennis Seidenberg, was believed to be lost for the year with a torn ACL/MCL suffered earlier in the year. But now a rumor from NBC/sports’ Pierre Maguirre that Seidenberg might be ready to go by mid May. Hard to believe that anyone could recover in just 4.5 weeks, but Seidenberg is a conditioning freak.
Bellhorn - it will be good to see a top tier team playing in the Verizon Center this weekend. It will be a blow out unless this is the one-game-in-ten where the Caps show up.
Bernier better get the hell healthy soon.
The Bruins have now won 12 in a row, and haven’t lost since March 1st. Last team to beat them? The Washington Capitals.
Wildcard race in the east is very tight. With 8-10 games to play, four teams are tied at 80 standings points.
Caps have seven of nine against teams with winning records. Even worse for their playoff prospects is Backstrom leaving the game last night with an injury.
Bernier can’t play on behalf of the guys in front of him, and they were absolutely terrible last night.
For all the shit Reimer takes, the team in front of him was playing awfully, and the loss to St. Louis demonstrates that. Allowing 23 shots in the first period is inexcusable.
Absolutely.
Was the Blue Jackets vs Red Wings game last night a nationally televised game? I live in Chicago, although I was in Ohio last weekend. I went to watch the the game replay today on NHL Gamecenter and I’m getting a blackout restriction here in Chicago. I usually only get the blackout restriction when I’m trying to watch a Blackhawks game or an NBCSN game. Does Gamecenter still think I"m in Ohio?
#askNeal was probably not the best idea from the Penguins PR department.
The Mark Messier Guarantee. Funny commercial.
In all my years watching the Wings, I’m not sure I have ever seen them so thoroughly dominated, but still win.
Am I the only one who thinks Messier is really, REALLY scary looking? I mean like, in a drill sargeant way. You almost expect him to start talking like R. Lee Ermey.
More news in the NHL – Ryan Malone was arrested for DUI and coccaine possession earlier today.
