NHL October 2009

Yeah, I agree that it’s very white. I never noticed that last season on Versus, though.

I have NHL GameCenter online, and it seems to vary bt arena.

But for two crazy goals in games against Calgary, Edmonton could be 7-1 right now.

Habs finally get off the schneid, winning 2-1 against Atlanta in a shootout. Awesome game by Ondrej Pavelec though. Lehtonen could be trade bait.

Canes lose to the Islanders in a shootout. Can I buy a road win for $200, Pat?

That’s the thing. When I watch the Wings play on the road through FSN Detroit, no problems. Any arena through Versus? Whiteout.

I suppose it doesn’t really matter. There’s only about eight people on the planet who have and can find Versus anyways.

so far the early surprises are how all the predicted bottom feeders are doing a lot better than anyone’s wildest dreams. Colorado, Phoenix, LA and Atlanta.

What a wild game in Ottawa. Trailing 3-0 going into the third, Ottawa scores 3 times in 8:10 to tie the game. Nashville took the lead again, and Ottawa tied it 4-4 four minutes later. With one second remaining on a 5-on-3 PP and one minute left in the game, Nashville again scored to take the lead. Scoring while still on the 5-on-3 meant that Ottawa would be shorthanded for the rest of the game, but Chris Phillips managed to score a game-tying shorthanded goal with 1.6 seconds remaining in the game. Ottawa killed off the carryover penalty in overtime, only to take another one and lose 6-5.

No such thing as a must win in October, but the Jekyll and Hyde Dallas Stars would like a win tonight in the second game of a back to back against the Ducks and Kings. Auld in goal for the Stars tonight and he’s been impressive.

Blue Jackets beating up on the Oilers as well. This have been a fun month for Western Conference fans.

Another win for Montreal tonight, spanking the Islanders 5-1. Yeah, I know it’s only the Islanders, but a win is a win is a win. It’ll be tough to get back to .500 on Saturday against the Rangers though.

I didn’t watch any for the last three years but my team, the Kings are doing very well this year

Not much to say other than that. I still have to learn the names of all these players.

Well Anze Kopitar is one of them, he leads the league in goals and points. I used to be a Kings season ticket holder, but moved two years ago to Sacramento, so I have not had as much opportunity to watch them, but folks have been touting their “young talent” for a few years now.

I still can’t believe that we gave up two goals – two – when the Bruins pulled their goalie with 1:40 to go.

Fucking Tim Thomas. Why do you hate Ottawa so?

How is the video stream quality at NHL Gamecenter Live, at nhl.com? I’m aware of the blackout policies, which are unacceptable, IMO. I was surprised to learn that Gamecenter Live is almost the same price as Center Ice, since I’d heard last year that Gamecenter Live had serious technical issues.

It’s not as good as broadcast, but not too bad. I almost never have buffering issues, and sometime I get to see the commercials on the Canadian feeds.

So is GameCenter the best way to watch NHL games on the internet? I really don’t see the point of watching 40 games a week but rather watch Kings game on my PC instead of the TV.

Well your local team is always blacked out, and any national broadcasts are blacked out as well. The quality is definitely better than the less legal sites. And I just got to watch the Parros/Orr bout

He’s either the best bad goalie I’ve ever seen, or the worst good goalie; I haven’t decided yet.

Then again, as a Hab fan, you’ll never convince me that anybody wearing black and gold with a B on the front of the jersey is anything better than bush league.

Gamecenter is usually ok. I do get some buffering, but I’ve been having problems with my internet connection recently. Unless, there is some hidden trick, you only get one feed of the game. You’ll never know which feed you get. Interestingly, when I got my free preview of Center Ice, Gamecenter had one feed and Center Ice had the other team’s feed!

I wish there was a way to get rid of the score bar at the top. Especially on a day when there aren’t many games being played. MLB allows you to hide that.

Worst Best. He’s good, but I was the Bruins’ goalie coach, I’d be eating a bottle of Tums a day, and washing it down with a fifth of Bacardi 151.
