NHL/Olympic Hockey: February 2010

I’m kinda surprised it was Crosby who scored. Normally, those kind of goals are scored by someone fairly anonymous (well, as anonymous as you can get on a virtual all-star team.)

Fourteen golds, the all-time record.

GOAL DISQUALIFIED BY JESUS!

AMERICA DECLARED VICTORs!

Errata: ‘Hearty’, not ‘hardy’.

Good thought - I just opened up a nice, cold lime Big Rock.

Hey! No fair!

Man, that is a bunch of sad, angry looking American hockey players. “Yeah, thanks, for the silver medal. I’ll throw it in the garbage later.”

I’ve got one of Lethbridge’s own Old Style Pilsners on the go. Even though it was probably brewed in Edmonton.

Very proud of our guys and Congrats to the Canadians.

Yeah they looked like they were just sentenced to walk the green mile.

Just for the record, the Canadians were next to last in this game and the Americans came in 2nd.

The important thing (from a continental perspective) is that Americans won.

They’ve got nothing to be ashamed of, and much to be proud of. They played well throughout the Olympics, and they played extremely well today. Not giving up, not giving in, forcing an overtime period in the gold medal game–yes, they should be proud, and the US should be proud of them too.

So anyone notice that the American team had six guys named Ryan Whatever. Hey Ryan! No the other Ryan, No I meant the other Ryan. No wonder we lost.

It was a great game, glad the Candians won at home!

{Singing our national anthem}Got a little something in my eye here…::sniff::

Yeah, the American boys have nothing to be ashamed of. That was a helluva game.

A tip of the hat to Eric Staal. With the gold today, a Stanley Cup in 2006, and a World Championship gold in 2007, he is the newest member of the Triple Gold Club, which is now up to 23.

No doubt! What an amazing game. My heart was in my throat for the entire OT period.

The Hockey gods have smiled and given approval to their chosen people one more time.

Is this a whoosh? “Laurel, and hardy handshake” is a GREAT pun! I may steal it.

Awesome game! This was a no-lose game, as far as I was concerned. Both teams played really well and made it exciting for everyone who was watching. Either team could have won; it was just Canada’s turn today.

That was a hockey game right there. Those American players sure looked sour. They won a SILVER MEDAL!!

I mean, if you’re going to lose to a nation in hockey, you should be damned proud to come in second to Canada.

Great tournament all around. Loved it!

Sigh, now I’ll cry every time I crack open a Labatt Blue, which I usually love.

Of course, I already cry every time I have a Molson…from the taste.

Go ahead and steal it.

I did!
.

Congrats to Canada on the win, and congrats to team USA for the silver and for exceeding expectations. Good game.
