These two teams(US and Canada) can still meet in a gold medal match, right?
Man, Brodeur just gifted that game to the Americans. Luongo has to start in the elimination round.
Nice!
:smack:
Appalling. Brodeur was atrocious and for all they babbled about how many shots Canada had, most were perimeter junk. The simple fact is that it wasn’t just the disparity between Miller and Brodeur; Canada was frequently outhustled by the Americans. The USA wanted it more and they got it.
It’s unacceptable for Canada to play like this at the Olympics. We’ve got more than half the world’s hockey talent and apparently none of the heart. Now they have to play a qualifying game. If Canada doesn’t even make the semis it’ll be a national disgrace.
Own the Podium my ass. In the last 24 hours I’ve seen more Canadians choke than at a speed-eating contest.
Oh, I don’t know. I rather liked his performance.
Best of luck against Russia.
Brodeur’s weakness is low, you need to shoot at his feet. It would not surprise me to see him benched now.
Great game. Miller stood on his head out there.
gah brodeur thought he was hot shit because of his stick handling skills. It was that “skill” that fucked Team Canada up. Not to mention Miller fucking pwning Canada, and Crosby’s line sucking absolute balls.
It was an awesome game, sad outcome for Canadians, but an awesome game none the less. If Canada loses early, I guess I’ll be cheering for USA. Seriously, the old defensemen sucked balls too. Pronger, Neidermayer coughing up the puck and in bad position. The so-called veterans were craptastic.
Miller was unreal tonight. Nice work, boys.
You need more than just talent. Look at USA hoops in the Olympics, they did well at first with NBA players and then went downhill. They finally realized they needed a good coach and not just a bunch of all stars.
A lot of Canada’s veterans players look like they are wilting under the pressure. Canada’s best defencemen are the kids: Doughty, Weber and Keith. Despite the supposed dominance of the “San Jose line”, I’m not sure if Joe Thornton has a point yet. Getlaf and Perry have been terrible. And I love how despite the fact that “Iginla isn’t on this team to score goals”, when Babcock needed a goal he put Iginla out there with Crosby.
Too many chiefs not enough Indians syndrome?
I have no idea when Rafalski turned into Bobby Orr, But I hope he keeps it up for a few more games and then months.
Miller may have played the game of his life.
There was some bad luck at the other end, but Brodeur was not good.
Each team had a few times of absolute domination of the offensive zone, that you just don’t see on against teams used to playing together.
Nice little laugh with the Keystone cops routine, almost decapitating the ref then taking out two other of his teammates.
I’m still not quite sure how the empty-netter happened. It look like both sticks are moving left and the puck flys out to the right.
I am glad nobody did get hurt, there were some viscous hits that had me worried.
But all in all the U.S. is either first or second seed in the elimination round, which should mean a winnable game is the only thing in the way of a trip into the medal round, something I did not expect.
At least he made it into the goal!
seriously everything said here is what I’m thinking.
I saw that in the CTV broadcast. They couldn’t get the puck in the net, but at least Sidney’s in there. Didn’t look like they were trying to injure Miller a bit? They were running the net pretty hard a lot of the times.
Addition: That little bit of hockey where the Canadians and Americans were going end to end with long outlet passes was awesome Hockey. Almost like basketball with a shot clock.
Can’t forget about Germany. With Canada playing some shit hockey, they better not be looking ahead to Russia.
I really wish I had said it on here so I don’t look like a bullshiter But I told my friends before the game one of the keys to winning would be an early penalty on Crosby, Nash or Crosby for one of their “Opps i accidentally crushed the Goaltender” moves they constantly get away with. I was so glad the first penalty of the game was goaltender interference. I’m sure the other coaching staffs have been screaming it in the Refs ears all week and it looks like they decided to call it. Too bad they put the whistle away on Goalie interference in the third, but at least it stopped it for 40 minutes.
I thought the reffing was excellent. The stuff that was called was deserved. I might be biased with the non calls on Canada but who the fuck cares, Canada’s powerplay was horrible. They need to get that fixed pronto.
I notice you conveniently left out how the US ran right through Brodeur just before the 3rd American goal.
