NHL Playoffs 2025

Nearly a week to go before the Cup Final, Oilers vs Panthers, Game 1 on Wednesday June 4. Canada again has a Stanley Cup contender.

I’m gonna miss the Conference finals – there was a game on every single night!

I have the same feeling about Matthew Tkachuk - second most punchable face in the League, only behind his brother.

Oh I generally agree, but I’d rank it McDavid > Brady > Mathew, with the last somehow a distant third. If it was a Sens vs. Oilers final, I’d have to root for the refs.

Uh, Brad Marchand?

Round 3 is done:
Eastern Conference
Florida Panthers (4) over Carolina Hurricanes (1)

Western Conference
Edmonton Oilers (4) over Dallas Stars (1)

The Finals are set, a rematch of last year except that Edmonton has home ice this time.
Edmonton Oilers (P3) vs. Florida Panthers (A3)

Will be watching Sam Bennet’s elbow closely in this series. Fucker.

Well that was fun! What with one distraction after another, I resigned myself to having missed the first Cup Final playoff game, but checked the score on the NHL website, and damned if the game wasn’t just starting the first overtime! The Oilers made a dramatic recovery from a 3-1 deficit to a 4-3 victory thanks to Leon Draisaitl’s second goal of the night with just 30 seconds left in the first overtime. Glad to have caught that action! Game 2 Friday, 8:00 PM.

Thanks for the update. I was watching the game, but had to miss the overtime. Nice to hear that Edmonton won.

Game 2 is Friday? Eep. I’ll be in Edmonton on Friday night. It’s business, but I’ll be staying at a hotel only a few blocks from Rogers Place. I guess all the sports bars will be full. Wish me luck trying to find someplace to get some dinner that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

Find a scalper.
Enjoy yourself.

That game winner was a thing of hockey passing beauty.

Room service might actually be the most economical in time and money at that point.

Wow, a really great game. If I have any prediction, it’s that we’ll see another game seven between these two.

That failed Coach’s Challenge cost the Oilers 2 goals.

It was a very common situation where the attacker and defender were tussling and the attacker fell into the goalie. Usually the ref’s decision leans toward the goalie but not this time.

Seeing reports that the Stars have fired Pete DeBoer

Yeah, I think it’s a short sighted action. But then again, I don’t own a sports team, so what do I know?

Strange but the Stars are the first team he didn’t get to the finals. The Stars need more grit.

Did anyone have the Stars going to the Cup finals? I didn’t.

I was thinking Vegas, Los Angeles, or Edmonton out of the west before the season began and early on.

But, I can understand keeping Jake Oettinger happy and no way to mend that fence.

That would be my advice to @Spoons, too, or at least, that’s what I would do. Judging from the raucous crowds inside and outside the arena during Game 1, any sports bar in the area will be a madhouse! I’d turn on the TV, order room service, and invite friends in the area to join me. :ice_hockey:

I didn’t expect it, but I didn’t see any obvious reason why they couldn’t get to it. They’d won 2 of 3 in the season series against Edmonton, after all.

I’m getting bloody sick and tired of coaches, waaaaay too often, being the sacrificial goat when shit doesn’t go the team’s way. If there’s a vacancy somewhere, that team would be wise to pick up PD.
With the Canucks, the team failed their now ex-coach Rick Tocchet.
